Eeehhh... not so much. Remember when Bayer had a bunch of HIV-tainted clotting agent on its hands, and dumped it on the third world? Yeah.

Nope, stem cells to the rescue, there have been a couple of cases of HIV / AIDS being 'cured' completely, but it's early days.

Nope, that's a bit of a bugger, I'd also forgotten to factor in the old NHS tainted blood cases https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-48596605

OK, so corporate greed and f-Ups aside, for the average joe on the street both conditions can be avoided

Again, you can try and argue with objective reality if you like, but....

    https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hiv-and-aids/living-with/

Sounds like - at least in the West - it's no longer a deadly disease with a massive social stigma attached to it, but... you know... there's those pesky facts again, interfering with how people choose to view the world...

At present with commonly available antivirals it can be a life-long condition, however current research shows that we are a step closer to a proper cure using stem cell therapy, some time soon it will no longer have to be a life long condition.

I made or make no comment on the stigma of the condition, I prefer to view the world with a little optimism that we will soon have a common place cure to replace current treatment regimens given the pesky facts that there have been people cured of it already.

OK, then we're in vehement agreement here, because I even said:

Still gives me a warm feeling on the insides. :p:

Brighten up, nobody was insulted, nobody got hurt. This is the internet, people say stupid things without fear of punishment. And, honestly, I don't even find his pun, albeit weak, especially bad or offensive. But what I find offensive might differ from what you find offensive. A lot even, because.... well, this is the internet.

    That's fair.
The thought of someone marching back and forth outside of a hospital with a placard saying "Piss off coronavirus, you suck!" or some such warms my insides.

Current transition to new servers is going well.
Only had a couple of minor hiccups so far.
Expecting it to all go tits up sometime Friday afternoon. Or over the weekend when they switch the old server off.

Blimey, if that caused a mini discussion, you'd get PTSD after hearing typical conversations with my nearest and dearest.

You really want to see someone take offence? Ask a Trump cultist to wear a face mask. Jesus, talk about snowflakes...

Hey, as someone who was accused of being a Trump supporter earlier today, I find that highly offensive!

The word 'cultist' was chosen very deliberately

Partner somehow managed to pay £79.99 for prime yesterday despite usually paying monthly, after a mad panic because she's short on wages and pass the buck raging she admitted to being on Amazon and may or may not have done something but wasn't sure.... Said I'd call them in the morning and see what can be done.

Went to call Amazon this morning to see if I could sort it out else it would probably mean I would be subsidising her wages until next week!

Me: "Oh great, I need to arrange for them to ring me due to limited staff and long wait times...."
*enters phone number* - Instant call back
"Press 1 if you'd like to speak to customer service regarding Prime"
    Pressed 1
"Press 1 if you'd like to cancel your prime membership and receive a £79.99 refund"
    Pressed 1
"Thank you, your refund has been authorised and will be returned to your bank account in 2-3 days"
"We aim to be Earth's most customer centric company... we'll send you a confirmation email regarding your cancellation and refund."
    Call ends

    Me: "Who and what now....?"
