@mclean007- yeah thats a rad up top sectioned off. i didn't want the air and heat from the rad mixing w/ the rest of the components cuz that'd defeat part of the purpose of w/c @Bust-a-cap- where in AK did you live, i'm in Chugiak. yeah prices up here suck, i'm building this comp cuz to get a full towere shipped up here was gunna cost like $80 which is way the hell to much for me. @gnemelf- yeah i thought it was cold last night, its 6 degrees out now thanks for the interest, will try to weld today, but w/ it being Christmas eve and all, i dunno if that'l happen -glenn
Merry Christmas!! This project is lookin good so far, keep it up man! Oh speaking of doubling of prices...have u tried having someone send you the stuff from another state!? anyways keep on moddin man...even if it is close to be 1 degree. lol
Dude - you are a Madman! Crazy man in the snow, modding like crazy! I love it! I can't wait to see how it turns out! Keep it up.
I'm gonna be keeping an eye on this project, cos I think red LED's are the way to go... Keep up the good work!!
finally someone else living out my dream. for like the last two years i've wanted a welder pretty bad, but with no job all my money goes to more of they day-to-day stuff i need. been some good deals in the paper lately, though. sometime, i WILL get one and weld frames to my heart's content! looks good so far. i live in orlando, FL, and it was seventy a few days ago!
Gee - I wonder why this fellow wants a Mod with Flames on it? Maybe the computer will keep you warm! Good luck - I bet it is going to come out very well.
I welded on the frame a bit yesterday and got the front and the back done which are the easy parts, being only 2d. then i welded on the side pieces to the front. they corners started out square and everything but they heat warped so now they don;t line up w/ the back. it'll just take a lot of time tweaking them to get them into place but it should work. I didn't do any work today cuz i went snowboarding. it was -5 today. might work on the frame tomorrow and i'll post some pics of it later. @Seal- the frame is actually steel not iron -glenn
i havent done any work on the case for quite a while. I'm comin up on end of semester at school and am having lots of projects and reports and stuff due and then finals next week so it'll prolly be a while till an update. -glenn
Semester is over finally and i got some time to mod!!! on friday i went to town and bought lots of stuff, paint, electronics, mod tools, etc I chopped up my case yesterday to start over, corners were too big a pain in the a$$. I'm just cutting 45's on the ends of the top and botom pieces and then butt jointing in the uprights. should be a lot simpler and easier to do too. i should have pics of the top and bottom frame up tonight -glenn
Update- i cut and welded the top and botom frames today. the one on the left has been wire brushed so it is niice and shiny just a close up pic of the top frame i got the corners all ground nice and square fan i made. picture taken w/ flash no flash, sorry about crapy quality, my digi cam doesn't like the dark i'm gunna try to get the rest of the angle this week and then weld in the uprights, hopefully i'll be able to get that done befor friday comments, questions, constructive criticism are all welcome -glenn
thought i was going to be able to get the angle i needed today but no cigar, my dad wouldn't go get it w/ me. damn i hate not being able to drive , i have to wait for everything till its conveinient for my parents to take me to get it. oh well will se if i can get it tomorrow -glenn
Fascinating project! I will enjoy tracking this project through to its completion I actually want to build my own case as well for a new computer I am planning to get for usage at home and at LAN parties. Unfortunately, I do not own any tools, nor do I have any skills in operating them Oh well. I guess I will just have to go with a certain one I have already picked out This is a thread I most definitely will be subscribing to! Have a good one!
Just wanted to add, I'm also from AK. Your case is pretty awesome. My advice is be really careful with the problems that might be caused be heat distortion, exspecially on the longer pieces of weldment. Clamp the hell outta those buggers. Looking foward to the final results.
i got the angle today so i am stoked. i got it cut and ground but my dad took the drill to chuch the wire brush in so i couldn't brush it and i can't weld w/o someone else home so. i'll prolly get that welded up tomorrow and then start working on the panels!!! @Goon - where in AK are you if you don't mind me asking? look for an updaate tomorrow -glenn
