Does anyone know how the cct can be mod to stop counting? I wan to have a function to stop at one colour. Say if I want blue, and I can cycle by pressing a momentary button till I reach the colour i wan. Anyone?? I tried stopping the clock input to the counter, reseting the clock and some other methods but it doesnt seem right. Need to trigger a rising edge to enable the count to inc and stay there.

I can implement this, and have done using a simple Micro controller and either 3 LEDs or an RGB LED, i can provice the diagram (simple 4 conponents + LED) and also provice a programmed micro chip to do this :). Can vary the speed up and down and change from either fading to flash :)

Wow!!! Finally!! I had though so that the only way out is to use a microcontroller. I had some radio interference in my car due to the caps discharging directly to the ground. Managed to overcome that but I still cant figure out how to implement the rest. Can you send me the schmatic and give me more details on the cct?? I need the cct to supply up to 4 LEDs at the same time. I am using the www.superbrightleds.com RGB diffused type. I would be glad if u can even sell a pre-programmed chip to me if it is not too costly to ship it to me from uk... That would save me a lot of trouble!! :D :D :D Pls drop an email at eng00120@nus.edu.sg and thanks a million for replying to this thread!!!

    Rainbouw LED

I'm looking for someone that could build for me (and for a 'normal' price) a special variation on the Rainbouw LED ( http://www.bit-tech.net/article/92/ )
    interested? send me an e-mail.
    thanks,

    -FELIPE- :D

    flashing/fading RGB in 5mm package

I don't know if anyone is aware or not, but you can purchase an RGB 5mm LED that fades between (I think) 9 different colors, and then flashes them. The fading between each color lasts about 1 second, and then flashes the individual colors for about 10-15 seconds.

    q4 q

hey i like the look of this circuit and plan to build soon but i was wondering if you could use the q4 output from the 4029 counter to power a fourth LED through another transistor. also if i wanted to run three or four leds in parrallel off of one of the transistors would i need to change R6/7/8 or just make sure R1/2/3 (or equivalent) are right for the LEDs i am using.

    thanks a bunch

any ways, i cannot seem to find a 4029N IC in the us of a, any other words for them? im a noob to electronics so im not sure if i shoudl look for a chip, and then find the 29th revision or soemthing of it, any guidence here would be appreciated, but one thing too, im gonna be using BI color LED's so would i just not wire up the traces to the 3rd leg, or should i get a different IC and go from there??? please help me out a little here :)

Search for '4029' under the CMOS logic section of your favourite supplier. The numbers are all-important, the letters signify brand and don't matter much, so a CD4029 is the same as a HCF4029. Virtually every decent supplier has them.

mkay, got it, now for the LEDS, im trying to figure out what resistor to get, but i am not sure as he has a 100ohm one for the blue( 4.5V, 30ma) and 220 ohm for the 2.2V/25ma & 2V/30Ma...i am planning on using leds that are ~ 3.5V/35ma...do you know what voltage is being put out along the PCB before the r1/2/3 resistors? thanks! :)

Rainbow LED with 72 single colour LED

    Hi,

first I have to apologize for my bad english.
I have build this circuit. It works fine with one LED of each colour (RGB).
Now i would like to take 24 LEDs of each color.
    Therefor, i changed the Transistor (now 2N2222 max 0,8A / 40V)
and the circuit is still working with one LED of each.
If I replace the single LED with a series of 3blue or 6red or 4green LEDs (each series has about 12V) they dont glow anymore. there is just a lightly shining.

I think, that the transistor limits the voltage in any way....
Why and how? What should i change?

Hope you could follow my explanations.

Would be nice, if you have any hints for me...

    thanks
    Tim

I have two of them. I bought them in japan. Works at 3,3v and changes between 7 colors in a cycle of 4 seconds each color. There also was a model that changes colors in 0.5seconds each color. The problem with this kind of leds is their expensive cost. but they works without more things needed

Can anyone please tell me if these little black circles have any special meaning.

    Thank you. :)

Yes, but nothing to worry about. It's a logic symbol showing that particular input or output is inverted electrically.

next step is to wait till the postman delivers my superflux leds
and then we get some real colorful action...
more pictures and a small video is coming as soon as its working...

i got bored waiting for my superflux leds
so i digged out some old leds and hooked them up
looked real crappy, but i found out the counting cycle

    Code:
     |LED1|LED2|LED3
    ----------------
    1| x | |
    2| | x |
    3| x | x |
    4| | | x
    5| x | | x
    6| | x | x
    7| x | x | x

after that it starts over again
no idea if its good for anything, but maybe someone wants to know... ;)

so, stay tuned for tomorrow, when the postman hopefully delivers my new leds...
