yeah but it was at the home depot and they suggested a laytex paint because i was painting metal. well i might want to go and get some oil based paint mixed up or something. it would be super handy to find that color in a spray can. maybe i could go scope out a military surplus store or something.

On the paint, go to Tower Hobbies web site. (Use Google)
There are several different kinds of paint that is used for military model airplanes. Most of it is "fuel proof" and very tough.
There are all kinds of camo colors available.

    BTW - nice mod!!!!

many people have been asking me "how did you make that monirot tray thing" and here is the place where i will explain. first off i have been putting this off because, well i have had more important things to do. now they are done and i have made a diagran and criss section on how i made the monirot retract and stand at attention.

i hope everything is self explanatory. if not you know what to do.... :D

They're called concealed hinges, and sometimes european concealed hinges. Most stores that carry cabinetry hardware will have a few. The best ones to get are the spring-assisted models (like the ones used in this project) which will hold the hinge in the closed and open positions.

    Update 1-15-05

Well this has been long in coming but it is finally here. I have started to mod the mouse and Keyboard for this case. So many distractions have kept me from completing this project but they are now aside and I started working a few nights ago.

First off I had to go to Hone depot and a few other stores to pick up some things that I needed. Like.....

    Camo paint......mmmmm green.

And some new bits for my dermal....

Well work commenced and things for the most part are going good.

Here is a test of the colors to make sure that they are what I wanted.

Here is a before shot so we can see the change when I am done painting.

Here is one key close up

    Here are the rest...

    Here is the mouse charger

Here is the keyboard waiting its new color....

ok my plan is to etch in the key functions, paint the keys one color, come back with a army yellow paint and paint the keys like the outside of the ammo box, and cover all that in a clear coat to make it more durable...for now most of the prep work is done and I have started on the mouse.

Here is the mouse after one coat....
As you can see this will not do....one or two more should be sufficient.

Here is what I have done so far and some more key close-ups...

Until next time.....MOD ON  (comments please?)

Lookin good. Why did you engrave all the keys? It looks cool, I'm just curious.

well it was a way to keep their specific placement on the keyboard as well as allowing the keys to keep tieir markings even after heavy abuse and regular use. :D

On the keys make sure they are smooth because I bet the engraving would hurt.

naw it just feels a bit off, or rather not what i am used to. its actually quite smooth and i will have it sanded and painted before i use it again; so we shall see. i expect it to be shiny and smooth. :thumb:

thought i might as well create a new post just to spice things up a bit.

i was digging around in my garage and amongst my old modeling train stuff i found some paints that looked usable. here is the one that particularly caught my attention for this project. it is a sunshine yellow and it is that annoying color that the army painted on the side of the ammo can that i am using. so......i thought that i could use this on the keyboard instead of a black or olive drab paint to tie the color scheme in with the rest of the case. tell me what you think:
and best of all its FREEEEEEEEEEEEE  :thumb: well kinda bust still most excellent.
