I can, and you may not be able to accomplish what you're trying to do without a vaccuforming table. Hot acrylic is the consistancy of taffy (toffee) and isn't going to fill holes easily. You may however be able to coax it to conform a little bit with leather gloves or some metal tongs.
practice peice. ive done this befor so i know it will work i work in the glass industy so i think it will turn out cool. and i use a leather shamy for the forming
If you find it too time consuming or not as effective as you'd like you can build your own table pretty cheaply. http://www.halloweenfear.com/vacuumformintro.html I'll be making one for myself in a month or so.
This mod is looking very nice I like that skull and UV lights. Are you gonna paint that case black? Black would be best color.
the skull was nice i really like it... if you want to paint a black i would recommend to put some effects like a flat or mettalic red paints.
ah hah! Exactly what I thought you where going to do. That window is going to look so awesome when its done.
It makes sense now why you cut those long lines down the framing of your hole on your panel, so they can bend out. Nice job.
small update....what can i say...its cold right now. but im in louisiana so it wont last long. i went and picked up my "intake" today....hehehe WOOT FOR THE STEALTH INTAKE... its the air vent for the 2005 mustang...hehehe perfict fit.... where it will be. ill cut the hole this weekend and update again!!!!!!
looking good, I like the a/c vent idea, very nice touch. One question though. Have you tried those UV led's to see if they make UV reactive things react? I have a few UV led's in my case, and some UV ccfl's. The led's dont actually give off UV light, just purple light. The only thing that makes the UV things react is the ccfl's. This is a UV reactive fan with 4 'UV' led's in it. They light it up purple, but its a blue fan, and the tubes that have a slight purple glow to them, blue too. This is the same fan when I switch on my ccfl's. The tubes and fan actually react and glow, not just reflect light. Its not that they are cheap led's either, they are these ones. (clicky linky) sorry, not meaning to hijack the thread, the purple light is nice, but if you want blacklight and UV reactive glow then stick with ccfl's imo.
your not hi-jacking!!!!!! and i dont think i am going to have a problem with lighting as i have 500 of these...3000 mcd UV Violet 5mm LED Lamp..hehe no im not putting in 500 led's...just about 120...hehehe and these things are BRIGHT!!!!!! put my ccfl to shame!! specs on the led's!!!! Emitted Colour : ULTRA VIOLET Size (mm) : 5mm T1 3/4 Lens Colour : Water Clear Peak Wave Length (nm) : 380 ~ 400 Forward Voltage (V) : 2.8 ~ 4.0 Reverse Current (uA) : <=30 Luminous Intensity Typ Iv (mcd) : 2000 ~ 3000(Max) Life Rating : 80,000 ~ 100,000 Hours Viewing Angle : ±10° Absolute Maximum Ratings (Ta=25°C) Max Power Dissipation : 80mw Max Continuous Forward Current : 30mA Max Peak Forward Current : 75mA Reverse Voltage : 5~6V Lead Soldering Temperature : 240°C (<5Sec) Operating Temperature Range : -25°C ~ +85°C Preservative Temperature Range : -30°C ~ +100°C *edit to add specs.
that's BRIGHT for UV LEDs. The ones I'm looking at are ~500mcd. Where'd you get them? And are they really UV or are they more purpley (the LSDiodes ones say 395nm wavelength so we're in the same range anyways). Of course I'm looking for more just blacklight effect and not color at all and let the UV stuff take care of that. actually... care to send a few dozen my way?
there very bright purple and thats what i wanted and they light up uv things from across the room... i got them from besthongkong led on ebay...but i cant find there store at the moment. i bought them 5 months ago.
look at the fan in the pics above!! Does it look like those 'UV' led's are making it react and light up?! NO!! but they aren't the same specs, all I was saying was that SOME claimed UV led's are actually not UV, just purple!
ok weather is FINALY going to get better here in the next week. i will be cranking up again this week and posting more pics. still have to figure out how to do that front intake and keep the chrome ring intact(ie no bondo can be used ) i got all my uv lighting in,and will be getting the hardware soon. will be an amd 64 based sys. LATER.
