Oh yeah there is one final thing and that's the fan grill which i must admit i had problems with but it looks like it should be complete soon.......just deciding on the font to use on the logo to let as much air through as possible.

They are laser cut and being made from polished stainless steel and will look similar to in the picture below......obviously it will be a double grill.

On a side note, i've not been idol but been researching parts for my next project which should start comming together pretty soon

    Appreciated Byron.....cheers :thumb:

I never actually got round to putting it down in writing but the best, recent polishing article that i've come across lately which covers most things is this one from Metku Mods

Its only a small article and well worth a read but i've said it before and i'll say it again...........its a dirty horrible time consuming job but the results speak for themselves.

    Hope the link helps

    ....... i couldn't resist another picture :D

and also, can you polish plastic? or is it duable to metalic surfaces only?

    Ta,

LOL.........aluminium is a great metal to work with as its so soft so it doesn't really take that much doing to get it nice and shiny.

For small stuff like the controller knobs i use a bench grinder fitted with a polishing mop to one end so as long as you got asbestos fingers you can polish all day :D

Polishing plastic won't really work but you can get plastic chromed if that's any good

Dirty and horrible ...right on target =) ...if i only knew what i was getting myself into =P.......And yes the aluminum is very soft indeed , the only downside is that the anodisation is rock hard =( so when you cut through that with the machine on a few places your bound to to the rest by hand or you´ll have an un even surfice =/......

Eventually started marking out for a custom flame grill for this case.

Its going to be hand cut from 3mm aluminium plate which will obviously be polished once its all cut out so should look quite good providing all goes well.

I first marked out the edge using the BIX shroud for a guide and then added some flames using one of mnpctechs flame stencils for reference..........thanks if you see this :thumb:

It'll do nothing for air flow but that was never the priority.......look good function second :)

It will take quite a while so don't expect it finished tonight

BTW, it's the black bits that get cut out :)

Managed to get all the cutting done using a fret saw with the tiniest little 18tpi blades which was good fun so its just a case of filing the corners round and polishing the whole thing to match the shiny case.
