    Hello all,

Although I have been gaming for years and years, I have never put much thought into the monitor I was using to display my games.
I have forever used 60hz panels. But I have come to realise that 144hz is the better option.

So, I am looking for a 24" 144hz monitor for no more than £200.

Does anybody have any advice or opinions on the best option

    Thanks

Spookily, 144Hz 24" monitors were discussed in this thread earlier... Some good recommendations by the look of it.
These have me intrigued, as I've been wondering if it may make my gaming a bit smoother.

Maybe it's just coincidence or my own bias but lots of people seem to be looking at buying new monitors of late, sadly it seems there's not really been many new 24-27" panels for the last 3 or more years, panel makers seem to have moved onto 32" so most new monitors lower than that are using older panels. :(

I think GPU tech has slowed down and gaming requirements have levelled out. No point upgrading to a fancy new monitor resolution with a higher resolution and refresh rate if you can't power it.

I just want an affordable 2560 x 1600 60Hz screen at about 30". Sadly these seem vanishingly rare or brutally expensive :(

Any monitor with that height is yeah. I had a 19" CRT running 1600 high and designed around 50 front ends for a fruit machine emu at that height. It sucked dropping to 1080p, but 1200 and above were like double the price.

I never quite understood 1080p. It was quite a step back, especially if you had a 21" Sony CRT.

The AOC G2590FX that Anfield linked to is a good choice for a TN monitor, if you want the same monitor with full height, pivot and swivel adjustment and don't mind paying extra (£20) there's the AOC G2590PX (exact same monitor just with adjustments), another is the Acer KG251QF and if you don't want a TN based monitor there's the VA based AOC C24G1.

Thanks all. Think the AOC is the one for me.
