Looking at getting one of the Noritake VFDs (soweeeee henry) that were reviewed... here's the question: Bearing in mind that my computer is down by my feet (*phew*) and also bearing in mind that I have designed windows to display the sides.. I want to know, should I mount the VFD on the top of the case or the front I have lots of bays free to do front mounting and for display purposes it will look marginally better there (I think) but it will be a lot more useful to have it top mounted so I can look down on it rather than lean back and look down at the front of it.... What would you do. A - Front mount or B - Top Mount Cheers Kazza
I would front mount it. That's what the bays are for right? What if you dont want your case on the floor anymore and put it on your desk... I dont see myself climbing on my chair everytime to check my temps or check what song winamp is playing
I would say out of your two options mount it in the front of the case. However, why not make a little stand for it and mount it on your desktop. Have a look at AW3K's entry in the comp here. Cheers, CC
Just had an idea... What if you make a cool gadget to flip the lcd up? So you just press a key and with a spring or something the screen flips up from the front of the case, so you can also see from the top... Possible?
I like the front tilt idea.. that would be pretty sweet, like those new car decks that you can adjust the angel. Peace
I would have to agree with the rest of the guys and say front mount it. Howeverm the idea of being able to move it to get a different viewing angle is kinda cool. If you do top mount it now and then later decided to have the case on your desk you can always just make a top window out of the hole that previously housed to vfd and then front mount it. Hmm, now I am not sure about how I would vote.
Just keeps getting better and better... If you want a good view at the lcd maybe here's an even better idea: Make the front slideable. Slide it out and then tilt it. You could fit it just in the middle with a tiny metal round bar or something, so it can be tilted up AND down... Slide it, tilt it, and you got a good view from wherever you are, lower then the lcd, higher then the lcd, or same height...
front. here's why: Get more eye candy here. 56k warning: Page loads a dozen or so images, taken with a 4 megapixel digital camera at maximum resolution, optimized in photoshop to 100k per pic. Comments and suggestions for what to do next are welcome
Be different, make it stealthed? You could do something like this with it... with the screen instead of the baybus! (Sadly its Pflumingo's case not mine )
