Not cheap, but a potentially economical replacement for an A2000, which still seems to list at £240 upwards
Could potentially be a new lease on life for refurb'ed office PCs. That's always been a great way to get into PC gaming, but you do have to be careful about proprietary parts - particularly power supplies. Even machines that use proprietary coolers, motherboards, cases, etc are better off with a second lease of life, rather than being in landfill, but if it's a non-standard power supply which doesn't use ATX connectors you're pretty screwed. EDIT: Still pricey for what it is though.

Im doing a ITX build for a friends 40th in an old FORMD T1 V1 case I have that needing a new home. Im using a number of used parts to keep to the grand budget and have almost everything except the GPU (and the ram I have a wanted post for). My remaining budget will be ~£550 for the GPU and need to finish it before October. Im tempted to pick up a 4070 founders to sit in the 3 slot space but looking for any additional feedback / thoughts on the current GPU market.
It originally had a floor mounted rad, so needed the clearance for good air flow. I havent changed them, as I quite like the look now, over the feet the case came with. Its only running a SF450w power supply. The CPU (12700H) has a max turbo of 115w, but normal usage around 50W, so the the 6950xt takes it close with ~300W vs the 3070 ~200W....
Max length is 312mm, so at 340 that wouldnt fit even if I wasnt worried about power usage. Good point
So it's a slightly more power efficient 6800XT performs worse than it in some scenarios and the 6800XT has been available for around the same price for quite a while. tbh this entire gen, from both sides, can just **** off.
Tbf the 6800xt was a cut down price and as they've run out of stock you get about the same performance for that same price with added efficiency. They could have priced the 7800xt the same as a 4070, so they're at least breaking away from the Nvidia pricing model for the first time in a while.
The 6800XT is nearly 3 years old. The 7700XT can be had from Scan for £429 for the XFX Qick. The 7800XT can be had for £479. Again from Scan. Apparently OCUK will drop their prices soon. The 6800XT RRP almost three years ago was £649. However, most of those who got them then would have paid a grand or more. And people still complain /roll eyes. I wouldn't say it is the best release ever, but god it is far from the worst. Dare I say it I think they are very reasonable.
