I still have a copy of January 1998 PC Gamer UK which said in the back what would be in the next issue, "Next Month: Duke Nukem Forever: Full Review!" :hehe:

Maybe it will be a mystery for people in a thousand years to solve a bit like the pyramids!

    Ach...I'm not surprised.

Suppose DNF will go down the same path as Alan Wake and be dreadfully outdated upon release. I got blown away by Alan Wake screenshots a year ago (or thereabout), however checking the latest previews for this (revolutionary) game did not - by far - evoke the same emotions. Can't help but feel the release of these two games will mark a definite anti-climax in the community.

    Just my two cents. ;)

i really hope they do this right..... i don't think any game can live to such expectation.... unless it is a frigin master peace.

I remember the game trailer from E3 in 2000 odd. The game looked awesome then and passable graphics for todays standards too. They should have released it then.

Maybe its a statement, a challenge or some crazy PR stunt to see how long they can perpeptuate a game based on just the ideals of it "Duke Nukem Forever?"

"Its time to Make games and chew bubble gum, and I'm all outta gum"
Perhaps they need to stop giving their employees gum, then maybe we will get the game ;)

Seriously, why has 3D realms released other games before DNF? I mean we know they can put develop a game in less than a decade. . . And did they really abandon the Unreal engine? I thought they were guaranteeing that the engine would be up to date when released, because it was based on Epic's engine and Epic is constantly updating the engine and providing updates to 3D realms?

I guess I will have to just keep telling myself the game is going to be awesome when it is finally released. . . Maybe my grandchildren will enjoy DNF. :)

I almost forgot to mention, I think the thread title is mis-leading. I understood the title to mean that 3D realms announced there would be no DNF, not that DNF was not part of the announcements.
