Bump. Not sure if this has been posted. But it turns out the 5DII is awesome for movies even in the hands of a non-professional film-maker

 

I had a chance to use it hands on at PhotoPlus in NYC a few weeks ago--While the movie mode is nice and all, it seems the contrast detect AF isn't at all what was expected, and while some believed it to be kinda slow it turns out to be very slow. A canon rep I spoke to recommended that its best to use MF while shooting video. Its a pretty nice camera even when looking past its sensor. The only thing I could tell was how outstanding the screen is compared to the original and all other current Canon DSLR's. The Feel of the body is much like the MKI aside from the grip material used there really isn't much of a difference. AF speed, from what I could tell, did not seem quicker than the MKI either, though it is a pro-pro model and I only had a few minutes to play around with it. The VF OTOH was noticeably brighter and the new menu is another nice touch. I was hoping to slip my own CF into one but plans went down the toilette when I should out the CF door had been gaffered shut. It's definitely on my list of things to buy--at least as soon as it comes out.
