This will be my first Post here at bit-tech so first off let me say Hello! I cought the modding bug after entering the NVIDIA ION mod contest with my spider PC idea. This will be my first true case mod. The idea is to move the side fan to allow for a large side window to show off the internal components. The plan is to get an Xclio A380Color and use my existing A380 as a donor for parts. The front faceplate/shroud will most likely be CNC milled. Im not sure what colors to use so I am open to suggestions. The A380Color also has a fan control box on the top so I will have to work that into the design as well. Keep in mind these are just concept renders, I will be creating more detailed models after I have the A380Color. Let me know what you think!
Damn, I thought somebody was building the A380 plane as a mod when I read the article , but this looks really cool !
The switches will most likely not make it into the final design due to the fan control box on the new A380Color.
I love the red/white too, however don't like the blue lights on the fan, white would look better, however that would involve changing the leds...
I too like the red/white. But I did notice that the optical drive in its current position may interfere with the air flow from the top fan... maybe a reorientation of the drive. I would like to see it at an angle, possibly with a pressure locking mechanism so when not needed the top looks flush.
Yeah I wasn't happy with the drive placement either. Im working on redesigning the front panel with the drive between the two fans.
EPIC A380 *Updated renders* Ok so here are some reworked concepts. The disck drive has been relocated in between the fans and I have ditched the SpinQ cooler (not preforming up to my expectations) and added a few 120mm fans. Some of the renders aren't great but you get the idea... If you have any color suggestions feel free to post them and ill make a quick rendering. Let me know what you think, all your input has been appreciated and has helped me with the design.
I still like the red/white combo. It's a nice change from all the black. maybe you could blend the squared edges of the leading edge of the "box"into the fan bezel leading edge.... (That seems poorly worded)
definately the white with red fans, black looks a little like one of those cheap cases with huge fans but the white and red combo oozes quality
