I've been contemplating the purchase of a 15" MacBook Pro for some time. But, Apple being Apple, I'm concerned that if I purchase it now it'll only be a few months till the next release. So I call on you - bit-tech brethren - should I wait?

There's 10 months or so until the next one is due.
Go for the antiglare screen if you order online.

I would wait for next generation. The current generation has sever heating issue, where you can't even hold it.

I dunno about the 15", but my girlfriend's 13" Core 2 Duo model doesn't exactly become scorching.... though it's not too far from it.

The new "i" processors do get toasty I hear, my core duo 13" never gets too warm, but the pros do tend to favour warmth over battery life and fan noise.

My 13" MBP never gets warm even under decent use unless I use it on my bed or a cushion. Then it gets rather toasty.

Brilliant build quality and excellent battery life make them excellent little machines, if a little pricey!

I am talking about the Core i models with the Nvidia solution.
Basically Apple GPU system doesn't work properly and can lead in having the GPU going full speed even when not in actual use.

You can read more about the issue from Ars Technica, and many other news sites.

Currently I have a four year old white MacBook that is on its last legs, so to speak. I think I'll bite the bullet and get a 15" with the antiglare screen.

About the heat - nothing can be hotter than my current mac book. It routinely hits 80 degress.

The new one goes to 105C and shutdowns on you.

Apple is just unoriginal, overpriced, expensive, plastic tat and thats it.

I find it scary that I can't tell if you're serious or not.
