    yeah its...ok i guess...

Remedy has always been great when it comes to story telling but thier gameplay can be a bit hit and miss at times, really didnt get on with the original Alan wake but control was absolutely fantastic and I've finished it numerous times. this feels....muddy? messy? the whole writing room/mind palace feels unnecessary and boring, combat feels clunky and un-fun and 5 hours in im still :| on everything, maybe im missing something i dunno.

I want it but I’m waiting for performance reviews which are notable by their absence.

Besides I bought me a key for Robocop, and I want to play it more so…

    This can wait.

    Got it.

It’s amazing, best looking game I’ve ever played bar none.

Subjective. Games like this are about the story, and not much else. If you don't enjoy the story you won't enjoy the game. I love it.

I mean literally he opens with "I didn't like the story and I don't like the characters". Then why bother?

He probably expected some gameplay as opposed to walking around looking at the nice scenery.
Doesn't seem to be the only one.

For me, graphics will always lose to gameplay.

It will always depend on what the game is. IE, the genre. This game is no different to the first Alan Wake in that regard, so if you go in expecting anything different you are going to be disappointed. Or even a bit stupid for buying it in the first place expecting it to be any different to the first one. It's not, that is the whole point.

Not every one is going to like the same games. I really can't put it more simply than that. Me? Fallout. Others? Skyrim, then another lot? Starfield. Personally I got less than 4 hours out of Starfield but then I knew I probably wouldn't enjoy it before I even paid for it. That is usually what happens when you know? you buy a game you are pretty certain you won't enjoy and then, quelle surprise ! you don't enjoy it. Kinda like if you watched a horror film expecting laughs no?

The game works, it doesn't crash, it looks incredible and it is Alan Wake 2. No more, no less. I used to be like you. Read reviews, decide not to play games or buy them based on said reviews. Then I realised that one man's trash is another man's treasure, stopped reading reviews and decided for myself what I like. I don't need to be told bro.

BTW I have completed Everybody's Gone To The Rapture three times now. And that literally IS a walking sim. You don't do anything else. There is no combat, no puzzles to solve sod all. Yet it won awards.

Saying it's a walking SIM just makes me want to play it even more :hehe:. But then I very much enjoyed the slow paced delivery job walking SIM that was Death Stranding. Which I'm now going to have to revisit.

It's good to read and watch reviews but I always make my own mind up, despite what you may think.
I played Alan Wake original for about ten minutes and realised it wasn't my thing, so knew this one would be more like watching a drama than actually having involvement in the game.
Currently playing RoboCop and loving it.
Also playing Deathloop for the fourth time and have now finally managed to get somewhere without baling on it early on.

Have you played Everybody's Gone To The Rapture?

As a counter to other reviews.

Seems like the sequel is just as divisive as the original, but it's clearly got an audience.

Indeed. In fact the funny thing is I didn't like Control at all. So horses for courses and all that. Lovely to see the guy who was Max Payne in it too !

I haven't explored the genre much, but I found Dear Esther deeply affecting and sad, and it made more of a lasting impression on me than a lot else I played that decade. I can still remember it vividly. It wasn't anything special objectively, I suppose, but it really struck a chord with me, its story and setting just...clicked. For me. I wouldn't recommend it to many people.
