Gaming Aliens Versus Predator Preview

Rebellion's new game in the AVP series promises to bring the original games, which were among the most terrifying creations ever, up to date and to a new audience. Have the successfully captured the feel of the original and will we even live long enough to find out?

Didn't Sega announce that (on appeal) the game was granted a MA15 in Australia, effectively unbanning it?

Banned in Australia AND Germany = I will surely buy it!

Played this at Eurogamer this year thought it was the roughest looking game there, it was only the MP side of thing but there seemed to be a lack of balance between the classes, the maps were poor too, hoping that by the time it comes out it'll be a lot more polished we used to like to play the old one at LANs

 

From these images and others I have seen I am not too impressed by the graphics... the humans and Preds tend to look well designed and solid. But the Aliens... well they look atrocious. Far too thin and jagged there is just no depth to them. Far from the lythe killing machines they are in the films.

As for the gore, how can you have a violent, killing game without it? To me it would be like having HD resolution TV and then removing the colour. Would you watch 24, Lost, Heroes or any other recent TV hit series in B/W? I know I wouldn't.

 

Heroes I wouldn't watch even in iMax!

Not much of a preview really, this article is all waffle.

 

I'm really looking forward to this game. I played the MP at the Eurogamer Expo and it was great fun. Still it does have a lot to live up to so I do hope it is as good as it potentially could be.

 

Saw the first trailer they released and was horrifically underwhelmed. It doesn't look bad per se, but it doesn't look great, and when it comes to AvP, anything less than excellent is terrible in my eyes. the first one was perfect. Especially once they released the patch allowing people to save (although I do take pride in the fact I finished the whole game before I even knew there was a patch).

I really hope it turns out well. Just the nostalgia has me getting more and more excited, but I have a horrible feeling I am just hyping myself up for a horrible disappointment.

It's about time Reballion got off their asses and made another one of these games. AVP1 was excellent but multiplayer was flawed. AVP2 was ok in singleplayer but the Multiplayer kicked ass bugtime! Survivor mode especially.

Can't wait for this game! Finger lickin' good!

You have to realize that this article was written sometime in nov or dec as part of a mass canning of articles so the Bit-Tech people could go get drunk on Xmas egg nog (considering their reviews of nov and dec they need the rest!).
I appreciate the effort they made to give us "new" content everyday, enjoy yourselves Bit-Tech staff and come back in 2010 with reviews worthy of this fine publication!

It is also worth mentioning that Aliens v Predator will be dx10/11. So all you lamers with outdated OS's like XP need to go get a copy of Win7 and a halfway decent 5000 series card, yes you, you git!

Haven't been looking forward to a new game since half-life 2 was due.

I really hope this AvP will have a decent multiplayer or co-op modes. That would be make it epic.

 

Looks ok to me. Just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I just don't get excited about games anymore. This year has been pretty lack luster in terms of game releases. Maybe we'll see some original IP's this coming year. Probably not.
