Well given that we have a speculation and news update thread about Ampere I figured lets have a separate one for AMD.

    AMD claims from March 2020

    Announcement Date Announcement:
    28 Oct 2020 for RDNA 2

Latest rumour mill video (thanks @Vault-Tec for posting):

If we believe the latest rumour/hype train then it sounds like AMD might have a competitve card which if they do could lead to some price wars. I think its fair to say that Nvidia have the lead on the software side of things (CUDA, RTX, DLSS) so I would expect AMD to have to beat Nvidia pricing for the same performance to shift a lot of cards.

Either way, I will probably hold out till November to get the full picture before comitting to buying (unless a crazy good second hand deal comes up on the marketplace).

For anyone who, like me, is thinking of upgrading next year, price wars will be essential to compensate for the impact on prices, of Tory corruption and incompetence.

    More pictures of things.

Rumourmill/guesswork is the 2080Ti level performance is AMD's 3070 competitor.

    But as ever, who knows.

Competitive AMD is a good for my wallet, but would not buy one either way, to get me back as a consumer will take some doing after the 7990
    Disaster.

Consistent drivers with a real plan going forward to maintain performance levels would be a start.

Even the most pro AMD supporter on this forum has a Nvidia card which should tell you all you need to know. If they can’t sell to pro AMD fans what chance do they really have

3070 competitor at £400 would keep the 3070 around the £450 mark for board partners which is nice. None competitive makes that £500

fingers crossed for some competitive cards

Or the 5700 XT disaster (random blackscreen issue, reports of excessive failure rates)
Or the 5600 XT disaster (last second change to memory speed, expecting consumer to flash bios to get it except not all cards could actually run the new speed)
Or the Radeon VII disaster (a cooler so crap reviewers recommended headphones, AIBs banned from fixing it, overpriced)
Or the Vega 64 disaster (they literally told reviewers a fake price to make it look better and card ran hot due to being overvolted from the factory)

And that list of AMD GPU screw ups isn't anywhere near exhaustive.

I bought a Sapphire RX5600XT AFTER the bios update nonsense.
It's a fantastic card for the money and so far, no driver issues whatsoever.

Not exclusive though is it, the GTX970 memory debacle, the 2080 space invaders issue ... It's not like either side gets everything right.

Looks similar to the Radeon 7 cooler. But with bits pinched into the shroud.

Or that they won't be noisy like blower cards. Looks like a nice straight forward design. See if they've got it where it counts though.

it’s not but personal bad experiences on these forums by multiple users shows there is things to work on

lack of consistent driver updates does not help either, when I last used AMD it was a lottery for which driver give best performance

Haven't run a "Team Red" card since I had an ATi Radeon 9600XT expire, many moons ago.

4870x2 was well loved in this house.

Had a RX580 for a short while, was happy enough with that - only sold it on because, well, a miner wanted it.

I haven't run a Radeon since the ATI Radeon HD 5970 X2 - and never would again. That was hot, loud and the crossfire drivers were terrible. It lasted 6 months in my PC before I went for NV SLI.

    Yep, thats a graphics card!

I don't know why they do these reveals! Its just a GPU, it looks the same as the dacades of them before it. Atleast the RTX3xxx series looks unique in that regard!

I like it. They've finally ditched the blower and attached water coolers lol. Also the side brings back memories of the 5000 series Batmobile lol

@bawjaws two 8 pin. So if the rumours are correct it should consume far less power than Ampere.

Most of the AIB 3080s only have 2 8pin.
