I agree with you that they have tied it in well with the current arc. They are basically and briefly recapping what happened in the first few series of Naruto. I don't know if you watched those; there are 9 series of Naruto before Shippuuden. Masses of fillers in those last few seasons sadly. Hopefully Taka will release this weeks NS episode over the weekend. Itching to watch it lol.
Just to make my odd-ball anime level even higher, how about the 12 episode Hanamaru Youchien? Deceptively powerful story and deep characters!
Im supprised no one has mentioned the Hellsing ultimate OVA, Follows the manga properly compared to the regular Hellsing anime and the art is alot better
Me too . Have some rep. It's good but they have been taking ages releasing it. I've got the first 5 parts. Not checked to see if any more is out actually. To be honest I'd forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me
Berserk Black Lagoon Cowboy Bebop Ghost in the Shell Gurren Lagann Samurai Champloo Hellsing (The OVA is the better one) FLCL (somewhat wierd, mun man is it fun (OVA)) Full metal alchemist (one of the best series ever, period) Souleater Full metal panic Wolf Rain Witch Hunter Robin
I love it how all the good shows that people rate are over over 7 years old \o/ It really has become a stagnant industry
All I've ever really seen is Appleseed (2004 or whenever), Laputa: Castle in the sky, My Neighbour Totoro, DragonBall, and DragonBall Z and the odd episode of Bleach and Naruto. But money is a smidge tight so I'm gonna have to hold off on buying any but am interested in any recommendations
Kinda off topic, but what is the order in the .hack manga series?! I have one called .hack//infection which is all in text, and another in manga-style, which kind of follows on, but seems to be a chapter or two missing between them
Nifty thread. I've not got too heavily into anime, but I'd kill to get a couple of the Zoids series, if anyone knows where I could purchase DVDs of it... I saw one episode of Elfen Lied and it was quite fantastic. Apart from that, I haven't watched much, but Boksatsu Tenshi Dokuro Chan is funny as **** and also slightly creepy. I must watch Initial D just because I read the manga and it's vaguely similar. Sub not dub though, I hear 4kids does bad things.
**** yeah, Dokuro-chan! Elfen Lied is good but you should read the manga to get a better view of the overall story. Possibly more to do with it taking about 7 years for a (large) series to get translated and gain popularity but it's certainly true that most of the best stuff is more than 7 years old. Most of the good stuff now is just light novel adaptations such as Toaru Majutsu no Index, etc.
Azumanga Daioh is cute and funny, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan is hilarious, Pani Poni Dash is gut-busting. Mushishi is also fun as well
FLCL is for people with an Open Mind. About Cowboy Bebop, follow the timeline, listen the Movie before the 24th episode (Hard Luck Woman). Oh and I'm a big fan of Hayao Miyazaki Kaze no tani no Naushika Tenku no shiro Rapyuta Tonari no Totoro Majo no takkyūbin Kurenai no buta Mononoke hime Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi Hauru no ugoku shiro Don't say Earthsea in front of me, don't you dare ! That was Goro, his son, and it was a total disaster
Azumanga Daioh - ******* hilarious and cute (Tsukurimashou!) Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - Also hilarious but weird... really weird Mushishi - Beautifully animated, great stories Kenkou Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho - (ecchi) Pretty unknown but awesome (-> my profile pic ) Those are my favorites Half off-topic (not TV-series but still anime): Has anyone seen La Maison en Petits Cubes? (short film)
Wait, is there an anime version of Umisho or are you talking about the manga (which is indeed awesome)?
At first I thought that those were an entire list from Miyazaki I didn't know about, but in the end I have seen most of them, (but unfortunately not all). Mononoke hime has been on my to by list for some time as I had it recommended from a friend. FLCL or Fooly Coolly is something that you either love or hate. But I can watch it again and again noticing new details and new references to popular culture, from south park to star wars. not all easy to spot but they are there. But if a person is new to Anime this might not be the one to start off with as they will be sitting back thinking "what just happened"
Higurashi no naku koro ni. 'Nuff said. Also Clannad and ~After Story~, most tear jerking anime I've ever seen.
