About half way through this episode, there begins one of the biggest secrets of World War II. The story that is told reveals,
in November of 1940, an encounter between a German surface raider and a civilian mail packet ship, the SS Automedon, which was caring a sensitive secret report to the head of the Far Eastern Command regarding the poor defensive status of GB troops protecting Singapore.

The report was quite gloomy and pointed out that they had no tanks and air defenses relied upon a small number of outdated Brewster Buffalo planes. This report, captured by the Captain Bernhard Rogge of the Atlantis, was handed over to the Japanese who valued it highly enough to begin plans,, in January 1941, to destroy the American fleet at Pearl Harbor and invade the South Pacific

Interestingly, the British command assumed the report had been thrown overboard in its weighted canvas bag and did nothing else to counter act the damaging report.

Emperor Hirohito awarded Captain Rogge an ornate sword which was one of only three given to Japan's allies during WW II. One was to Herman Goering, one was to General Erwin Rommel, and the third to Capt. Rogge.

I can't find any immediately viewable links for this episode, but the entire series is for sale. Here's an American source.

Although the speaker is a bit glib and the graphics used in the presentation aren't the best, this short video does cover all the Italian and many of the Japanese tank designs of WW2.

In this documentary, at the beginning, it points out that Japan had created a standard war plan that included fighting the US navy as early as 1907 - believe it or not.

Glimpses of American tanks and a Japanese light tank appear during this short documentary that won an Academy Award in 1944.

With the Marines at Tarawa (1944) - (20:10)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4q4NZH-eVM

Edit: Before this film was released to the public, it had to meet with President Franklin D. Roosevelt's personal approval. The marines who fought here wanted their story to be told. They wanted the American public to see that it wasn't a cake walk.

Critical to Japan's inner defenses, Saipan needed to be taken. This episode covers the largest Japanese tank battle in the Pacific.

This black and white film has more actual tank combat (during in the first 17 minutes) then anything else posted lately. This focuses on Tinian and Guam which followed Saipan.

There are some matters dealing briefly with tanks, but this was what began WW II in Europe.

Hungry for territory, Hitler needs to convince the world he is justified in attacking Poland. SS leaders train and equip recruits to act as Polish soldiers, and attack German facilities along the German-Polish border.

This is a slide show of Polish tanks, tankettes, anti-tank, and self propelled guns that were all they had to fight their part of the war. This is so even though their anti-tank rifles accounted for a large number of German tank loses.

After the take over of the Czech republic, the Germans were left with the remains of the Czech tanks and manufacturing industries to keep producing them. The Germans used Czech tanks whenever they could.

The almost first half of this video covers Romanian armor. It's easy to see how the Russians surrounded Stalingrad with so little armored opposition as the Romanians tried to hold the flank.

In this hard to obtain episode of Secrets of the Third Reich it is revealed how General Irwin Rommel
took advantage of the compromised American black code of diplomatic communications while in North Africa at the same time American Colonel Bonner Fellers, in Cairo between October 1941 and June 1942, was sending out British order of battle information back to Washington, D.C.. He also sent information of resupply convoys heading for Malta that turned out to be very damaging as well.

Germans access Colonel Bonner Fellers' reports

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonner_Fellers#World_War_II

In October 1940,[4] Colonel Fellers was assigned as military attaché to the U.S. embassy in Egypt. He was tasked with the duty of monitoring and reporting on British military operations in the Mediterranean and Middle East Theatre. The British granted Fellers access to their activities and information. Fellers dutifully reported everything he learned to his superiors in the United States. His reports were read by President Roosevelt, the head of American intelligence, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Unbeknown to Fellers, Axis intelligence read the reports: within eight hours the most secret data on British “strengths, positions, losses, reinforcements, supply, situation, plans, morale etc” were in the hands of German and Italian military.[5]

It wasn't all bad about Colonel Bonner Fellers as far as the British were concerned. It was through his efforts, opposing the American Army command, with President Roosevelt, that influenced the president to support the British in North Africa with Operation Torch.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonner_Fellers#British_suspect_a_leak_from_Egypt

Despite the above, Fellers and his reports proved instrumental in bringing American supplies and troops to aid the British in North Africa. Throughout his tenure in North Africa, Fellers advocated for increased American support for the British in North Africa. This included both weapons and a commitment of American troops. This was at odds with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the U.S. European Command as to the level of weapons support and an American troop landing. The military policy at the time was that saving the British in North Africa was not strategically required, especially not through a North Africa invasion (code named Operation Torch), as that would divert focus from the then-operative Operation Bolero plan for an early European invasion.

President Roosevelt admired Fellers' reports and was influenced by them enough so that on June 29 General Marshall wrote the President that "Fellers is a very valuable observer but his responsibilities are not those of a strategist and his views are in opposition to mine and those of the entire Operations Division."[15] Nevertheless, the President invited Fellers to the White House upon his return from Cairo, and they met on July 30, 1942. "Consistent with his previous reporting through 1942, Fellers argued for robust and expeditious reinforcement of British forces in the Middle East.”[16] Ironically, despite Fellers' blunt criticism, his analysis of the Middle East's strategic importance was instrumental in Roosevelt's decisions to reinforce Britain's 8th Army and support Operation Torch.

British Pathe newsreel of the second battle of El Alamein and its aftermath.

    Edit:
The reason there was the bombing after Rommel retreated was that Montgomery was not pursuing with the 8th Army. It was the only way to maintain pressure while Monte gathered his forces for the eventual pursuit back to Libya and Tunisia.

Of long duration - the Russian WW2 tanks don't start until the 7 minute mark, but some of the early designs were interesting.
