I have roughly 6500 songs on my iPod, and I want to take a couple hundred of them off and put them onto my laptop as I'm going to turn it into a portable media center of sorts. Seeing as I no longer have the songs on my computer, can anyone recommend a way to take them off the iPod and onto the computer? To my knowledge, iTunes doesn't let you do it. :\

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Winamp 5!
Look inside the Media Library after you plug-in your iPod, and you will see your iPod, you can transfer your song to your computer without issues.

An other way, is to tell Windows to show hidden files, and access the folder "Music", and look inside each of it's sub folder for your music. But that way will make you lose your the files name.

this works pretty decently. you can make it even better if you do a search in the main 'music' folder for *.mp3 and *.m4a files, click "choose details" and hide the filename, show artist, track and album name. takes a while for everthing to load (and m4a tags are not shown but i believe there is a plugin to allow explorer to read them somewhere) but you can get what you want relatively easily. then use a tagger app to reconstruct the filenames from the tag info.
