All computers do the same thing. They process binary digits.

Mac or PC is only a label.

label you mean... that is so true... just the architecture is different, powerpc vs x86, etc... yes they both do process binary data but that is not what makes it a computer. What makes a computer is the software, i.e. the graphical user interface. I am a mac user so I am not going to go into how mac is better than pc etc. but that is the point of another thread...

I personally do not know what is up with the divided commuities...why can't we all just get along?

I don't own a mac, and probably never will. This is because I have no use for them, they don't have the facilities that I need to use. This does not mean I hate them, as I know that there are other people with the opposite opinion. but then again, I have both a P4 and an AXP, so I have to be tolerent of the "other side" (damn Intels).

As for gutting the G5...even though it is (probably) fake, would have been nice to see that apple baby in a PC70 :D

Some guy around here was fabricating himself a homebrew G5 case out of aluminum... it looked pretty promising.

Now granted he wanted windows, but why he couldn't of just stick SuSE 9.0 or Gentoo onto there i'll never know. Hell Win4Lin works perfectly under linux even on the G5s.

Hell if someone gave me a G5 i think id faint, then be their slave for life. (Yers that IS a hint)

Did you even bother reading the thread once you dug it up?

I dont understand what its the problem here!

Ok its a beatifull case, but a work of art??? Its just another mass produced piece of metal hugely overcharged by people that dont give a crap about the users.

I would do exactly the same if I had the money just laying around just to piss of Mac users and envyous pc users.

The pictures made me laught, I just dont understand who people could get actually angry about this, its not like he actually did something to any of your stuff, that is just plain envy.

For example my first reaction to see a 1930 radio converted to a pc was, this guy is crazy that is a piece of history, but then I realize that other way it would just remain as garbage as no one would recover it to its originall state.

I've had people tell me I should convert my Altair to a PC, "what a sweet case hack.." Not a chance, that Altair still works, even if it were dead, I'd try to recover it first before converting it to a PC.

Well now that I thought about it every ones have different values about what could be a heresy in modding, to you your values and memories of the altair made it an untouchable piece of hardware, it should only be restored. It is a piece of history in computing and if it can be restored it should even if it takes a lot of efort finding the parts and money.

I remember seeing a guy who loves corvettes using a firts generation corvette, make a tubular chasys to put an engine trans and suspenssion of the C6, shure he could have expended some more cash into restoring to original condition the old vette but he already did that and now he wanted something else, he respected the interior and exterior of the car but everything else was updated, a lot of vette lovers shout heresy and got a lot of hate mail, but also he got a lot of compliments in expositions and tours.

The case of a G5, witch is currently in production and in mass quantities dont qualify by my as an untouchable and even if you must gut a complete system for your personal satisfaction I dont see anything wrong with it, It not like he glued a damm picaso to cover a 20$$ compusa case to improve it.

Come on people. What if this hoax was pulled to show just how attached people become to belongings. Not even human life, but material objects.

The crying part is that he did an utterly sloppy job and used a crappy motherboard. No craftsmanship, no design, just an ugly hack job.

If he had managed to put something in that had somewhat near the performance
of the G5 and looked even half as good, maybe then he might have gotten a
nod of 'not bad' . But, as-is, at best, it qualifies for a 'Disaster Mod' .

It was later revealed it was a total hoax. He thought it would be funny to make up something like that.

Last I cared to remember about this was it was called a hoax by the person who posted the message first. Are there pictures of the G5 chassis with PC innerds?

I've used PC, Apple, Unix, for a long time now, and the G5 has to be one of the best manufactured, and designed interior for space, layout and looks. The guy should be taken out, and strip of any sort of relationship to anything technical, it almost blasphmey what he has done to that G5. :wallbash: :jawdrop: :duh:

I can't believe that people are still taking this seriously!!

    IT WAS A JOKE!

It's the people that are so attached to macs that should be hung by their testicles and set on fire!!

You wouldn't see this much hatred and anger if he'd put a crappy old apple innards into for example a vapochill case with xp 3200+

    GET A LIFE  :hehe:
