Im just lookin for a new cpu, and came acroos mobile amd64 cpus. And was wondering wether there was any advantage over the nrmal ones. As in socket A the mobiles were far better at overclocking etc? Anyone got any thoughts?
I was also wondering this, but wasn't going to bother finding out since obviously no-one actually buys them for overclocking with. The A64's are pretty low voltage anyway, I mean, the barton mobile I have here is 1.45V at stock but I believe thats actually higher then most of the 939 chips take at stock, and they're non-mobiles. To be honest, who needs mobile A64's when Opterons exist?
if you want a low power loving cpu then I'm afraid you have to turn to intel... their dothan based fastest models beat the crap out of my 3500+ winchester at amasingly low power usage... though it's a laptop cpu aswell...
yer dothans iv seen have beat a lot of fx57s in super-pi to 1m i would get one if i had the money to get another computer and reason with my parents why i would need 2 computers...
