And that's using standard Xigmatek 1500RPM 120 fans, were you to use different depending on preference you could no doubt shave a few more degrees off those temps
If you take a look at the two pics below the thicker EK rad loses out to loses out to Swifty MCR (which is 34mm thick) when fan speeds surpass 1100 rpm. Here are links to complete articles http://skinneelabs.com/swiftech-mcr320.html?page=1 http://skinneelabs.com/ek-cs360.html?page=1 Both Laing D5 and DDC would work, though obviously the DDC will be easier to fit into smaller case. And 23RO_UK, nice build you got there.
The Utgard fits 2 x 240's and a 120 on the back with no trouble 240 & 120 cooling the N/B (x48) and CPU (Q9550) and the lower 240 cooling the GPU's (xfire 4870's) just needed a little bit of drilling on the case bottom. I have placed a XSPC dual res in the front and 2 swifttech pumps My cabling needs something to be desired (I see such fantastic cabling skills in this forum, mine is acceptable at best) Any how I diverse.. The Utgard fits water cooling loops just fine
You could also use a Phobya DC12-400, they're easy to mount in confined spaces and performance wise drop in between that of the Laing DDC-1T Pro (MCP350) and the Laing DDC-1+ Ultra (MCP355). Cheers, nice clean build on your part to From the pic I'm curious as to quite how you mounted the cylinder res?
I have been looking at pumps, the ek dcp 4.0 is Apparently good and it's about 35 quid, anyone know if that's too good to be true? lol
Another member earlier asked me privately for an opinion on the EK/Phobya (Jingway) 4.0 pump. My answer: 'I originally ran it off a connector on the PSU but I used 5v instead of 12V. I wasn't sure that the motherboard would be capable of supplying the ampage required on start up so played safe. I'm now using the pump on another system and run it from a Lamptron FC2 (45W) fan controller with no problems at all. I also ran it for a while on a Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme (30W) again with no problem. I found it noisy at full speed but I have a very low tolerance for noise so you may not have a problem with it. It's mainly a vibrational noise that even thick foam doesn't suppress. It's almost silent at 5v and starts reliably and gives enough flow for 2 blocks and a quad rad at that voltage. I will say that I notice not the slightest difference in performance between the Phobya and the 655, it was the noise that prompted me to change it.' What about the Coolermaster Sniper All Black edition? Aria have it for only £7 over your budget @ £107.50 inc. VAT You can fit a dual rad at the top if you take the 200mm fan off Here is a good vid review of it- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEzAGW-T-Zg Cus
Thank you big elf, would the pump run if my kaze master ace? Or wouldn't need to have it directly in the psu or motherboard?
Unfortunately the Kaze Master Ace is 12W, 1A per channel so wouldn't be able to run it as the pump is 18W, 1.8A. I wasn't keen on connecting it to my motherboard so prior to using the Lamptron/Sunbeam fan controllers ran it from the PSU using one of these to manually switch between 12V and 5V http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/casefanaccessories/zm-mc1
Yes but as it has all ready been established lots of folk think the HAF is butt ugly and plus you said he wanted a mid size case right?
Yep I have built in Utgard and dual rad fits easy. Very good quality case for the money, you can even connect the rad fans to the front fan speed controller. If you find a little extra down the back of the sofa the Coolermaster Type S is the next step up.
