Hey all, A friend of mine recently moved across the country with only a laptop, with his desktop to be shipped from home in a couple of months. We are looking for something browser-based to play together, literally any genre except RPG. Personally, as finding time for gaming isn't always easy, the time I do find is rarely spent playing games in a browser. But these circumstances are different... Anyone have any recommendations? p.s. No installables, ports are all blocked at work
Cyber Nations http://cybernations.net Give it a try. If you do register an account on there then PM so that I can tell you about the game and what alliance to join etc.
I would say Runescape is by far the BEST browser based game out there now and probably ever. buy you say you don't want RPG which Runescape is. something i play with my friends at college to pass our time is OGame.org its a text and click based game mostly (stratagy mostaly)
Those little mini-sports games on Flash compilation sites (e.g. miniclip.com) are good, esp. the ones that let you enter codes and find each other, then play multiplayer. Those things hijack IT lessons in schools. Runescape still stands out as an amazing technological achievement...it does things with -and to- Java that were never meant to be.
WWW.OGAME.ORG probalbly one of the biggest browser based games and its pretty sophisticated once you get into the nitty gritty of it. The only issue I have with it is that its a game that never ends so good luck trying to break into the top 100 if you dont joined a newly created universe. Don't play runescape, its ****
+1 for OGame although see if you can get a seasoned player to give him advice and start out in an old universe.
That would be a disc-installed game, not a browser game. Good suggestion apart from that, though This thread's acting like a noob-magnet, it's really bizarre. Half the posters haven't posted anywhere else before or since... CONSPIRACY
Seconded. Legions is pretty darn fun, and even looks half decent. Look it up on youtube for some idea of what it is, but its really some thing you gotta experience. Its sort of a Tribes mock up. Also there are plenty of other games on there aswell.
