Uck. Really wish I could get the brushing pattern right on photoview :wallbash: Any suggestions? Should I ditch PV entirely?

what are you struggling with exactly? Not had any experience with photoview so can't help too much, only experienced in mentalray, vray and indigo!

Just scaling to photo-texture to look right. That and orienting it. 1kx better than sk but still doesn't like to budge :sigh:

I'm guessing you mean the x,y,z/u,v,w scaling? if youhave a simple "noise" texture just squash it in one axis and stretch it in another, don't be afraid to go mad with the values!

For example, when I use procedural noise textures for brushed textures, I will use a U value of around 0.01 and then a V value of 10000

But, for the image above I unwrapped the model and made my own texture to put on the model in photoshop, then I can control the direction of the texture for each face and make it look more realistic and less tiled

Ack, I haven't played around too much with the case design of a headphone amp/dac unit for awhile now but I've never bothered to learn how to make the headphone jack seem flush to the surface like that. Which headphone jack did you use? Neutrik? Switchcraft?

Eh, the project turned out pretty well despite that (the headphone jack didn't look the best but it was pretty good) otherwise.

just a simple hole in the aluminium stepped to a smaller hole then a platicy looking tube sitting inside, it's not based off of any jack in particular just a generic 6.3mm
I should probably model a 6.3 and 3.5 for standard parts in my other projects, watch this space :thumb:

you talking about my project? if so thanks :D not really done yet i've put it to one side to make one of these

I love what you can do with indigo. I can't get it to play nice with Cinema 4D for the life of me.

No. Yours turned out much better in terms of appearance so far. :)

Tangster knows what I'm talking about though since I believe he's aware of it.

It did look nice. It's just that from all I've seen so far in that render, it's definitely on a different level when it comes to design, to me at least.

corrupt 3ds file for the Weller, hooray for not saving frequently under different filenames :duh:
Vented my frustration through heavily displaced spheres with ridiculous amounts of polys :hip:

quite a lot of post, because... well, why not? :p

Have you checked the auto-backups ? That works for me 99% of the time when i get corrupted saves.

How could I forget?!?!? Gah, the displaced sphere files have over-written the autosaves of the weller :(

Playing around in Blender 2.66 with the inbuilt Cycles Renderer and the compositor.

Can't quiet get it the way I want tho, and some textures aren't showing, like the window or the grooves, as they're not seperated from the ships model, like the jets or the trails.

Apart from that Blender is actually quiet powerful for a freeware.
