I bet it's a big reduction over what Honda were offering on account of none of the other teams actually wanting him.
I'm sure plenty of teams want him regardless of certain character traits and history, that man can drag a lame donkey around a track and make it more competitive that it evershould be, Really hope Mclaren/Renault is a pairing that works.
Why wouldn't he go to Indycar or somewhere where he can win? I guess he's still more expensive than most of the average guys in the field.
Three time world champion seems to be the minimum for true greatness. He wants a third title. ...and he can still go and play with the Americans later on. I'd really like to see McLaren spank RBR next year - that is guaranteed to throw the driver market into overdrive.
Apparently Ricciardo could be leaving RBR at the end of '18, so the driver market could get interesting even if McRenault don't spank RBR
Because when he leaves F1 he'll never get a shot at F1 again. Nando could roll into WEC or Indycar and dominate, he's already rumoured to be talking to teams about Le Mans next year since it doesn't clash with a Grand Prix. But none of these things are Formula 1, it's like winning World Superbike or winning Moto GP, you can be a world champion or the World Champion.
I can't find a link, but it was something Marko said about Ricciardo being on the market once his RBR contract runs out. That, combined with RBR announcing they've just extended Max's contract until 2020 compared with crickets from Ricciardo's side of the garage.
Marko really doesn't like Australians, one must have nicked his girlfriend in days long past or something.
He's never going to be WC again in F1 though. I dunno, I'd rather dominate and win accolades in a pretty good series than been seen in a joke-mobile in F1
The only teams he could realistically win a WDC at wouldn't touch him with a very long stick... Winning a title with McHonda was a long shot, even if the Honda PU hadn't been the colossal catastrofuck it turned out to be, but it was really his only shot. If the '18 McRenault turns out not to be at least on par with the '18 spec Red Bull, I think Alonso might finally admit to himself that another WDC just ain't happening.
Renault have stated that work on next years engine has progressed well and are hoping for a big leap forward. If it doesn't then Red Bull and McLaren will just be fighting for scraps of podiums
Sorry, but imo Verstappen's penalty was utter horseshit... Had he overtaken Bottas like that, or literally anyone else other than a Ferrari probably we wouldn't have had a peep from the stewards...
