http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/06/bmw-builds-a-ca.html Really cool looking but probably not all that practical. I love the idea though, if they develop the fabric so that it's knife proof and cleans easily it could be a real step forward. I really like the design of the lights.
It's a brilliant idea - imagine not quite liking the styling of your new car, so just tuck a little bit in on the front wing, nip a bit on the flank. Can't see it making it into production while we're still allowed to own pointy objects though...
This car is Some thing not normal.. it's not a car. LOL car Skin. means it can feel. no need for GF then. I think It's cool because you can make your own crazy body kits.. No need to go store and wait to fix it.. just in 1 sec you can get any body kit. Thanks for this info dude, BTW they called it Gina or some thing near that.
I like the concept. Especially how the front lights open and close! Not sure it's very durable or even practical, though. Just imagine the possibilities. You could re-skin your car pretty cheap. You could even download new bodykits for it! That would be a real bummer!
Lets steal some cars, hey look at that one, I can use my knife to just cut through the rubber car and climb in! I wouldn't want to be in an accident though in that car, doesn't look to strong.
Haha, although I think its easier than that...It appears to have no roof. It is a BMW though, I am pretty sure you would only notice you have crashed once you realised you wern't cruising along at 90mph. Plus its not usually the bodywork of the car that saves your hide.
There are materials that is cloth-like and knife proof. Besides, breaking into a normal car can be done with simpler tools (a rock).
i like where this could go, its not been developed for the look. imagin a car that car change its aerodynamic profile as you drive, increase down force as you corner, but then decrease it when you want to go fast. if the euro fighter has an unstable air frame and computers can react so fast to keep it flying and agile in the air, then this technology can certainly be scaled down for cars with this sort of skin. oh and when the car blinked in the vid, it was very werid!
