No mention of the built in dolphin dive in MP??? I thought everyone learned something from BF2's mistakes!!!

If you dont know what i'm talking about trying hitting prone (Ctrl) while running!

I'm sorry, you think Modern Warfare 2's story was "carved with scalpels"?

    I'm lost for words.

Oh wait, here's some. It was the least cohesive and most nonsensical campaign story thread I can remember. As if it was written by a committee of hyper 12 year old boys fuelled by Red Bull and Rambo films, overseen by a ADD chicken.

I haven't bought Black Ops yet so I can't really speak as to its merits or otherwise, but the story cannot help but be better.

The whole review reads slightly as if it was written with the agenda of wanting to find fault with Treyarch compared to Infinity Ward, which seems a bit weird to me, especially as the end result finds favour with you.

If my maths are right, that game costs £7/hr.

Sounds like a 4 or 5 out of 10 from the text of your review. I haven't really taken the game reviews here serious in a long time though.

If you excuse multiplayer and co-op, sure.

Shattered Horizon was a long time ago, StarDagger - YOU'VE GOT TO MOVE ON! ;)

Not the greatest example really. Bioshock was a good game but the fact that it is at the top of the recent pile of FPS games is a sad state of affairs. In this Halo/COD age all we get are a few maps that are pretty lively in multi-player. And good old quality games with real innovation and storytelling go out the window.

I guess I understand. Why bother spending the time, money and effort making a good game, when you can make a mediocre game that can be played online and the masses will lap it up. A no brainer I guess. But it leaves players like me who value real quality storytelling and innovative gaming picking through the junk to find maybe 2 or 3 good games a year. Bioshock was good and it was one of those 2 or 3..but how many years ago was that? Remind me.

Most of my current hopes are pinned solely on Bioware (ME3 DA2/3 SW:TOR). I have no real faith in other company's. Perhaps Deus Ex3 and Max Payne 3 will deliver. But I won't hold my breath. Although Obsidian did aright with Fallout NV. Game was still more of the same rather than actually progressing the series (although they pretty much sorted out the levelling)..

I'm just so dis-heartened with games in general right now. Used to be I never had enough money to go around, now I can't find enough games worth buying. Money goes on books and booze instead.

None of the other ones are good why would this one be? Seriously, most noobish, retarded online game and ridiculous SP stories and "Trying to be edgy" Sp campaigns. COD has been garbage since 2. Online is tailored to the casual noob who lone wolfs, no tactics, it has a gross amount of auto aim on console, your tactics do not need to change if you switch weapons. It's popular because it tailors to the lowest common denominator, the 12 year old online gamer.

Try resistance, the most underrated FPS this gen. A bit aged, but great game story and weapons. CODis mainly garbage, there are still a few good FPS around, but yeah, seems to be a really watered down genre at this point.

Yep. Lag and stutter make this one unplayable at the moment. Hopefully it's patched soon.

My two problems with this game are as follows: 1 - About halfway through the game I guess the exact ending of the game as a joke and it turned out that it was exactly how I imagined it, don't know if you can take off points for that sorta thing but I would have liked more of a surprise.

2 - The multi-player part of the game is tons of fun, I love the maps, I love the guns and how they shoot and I like the fact that you can even play practice rounds with bots[although, being able to farm points by killing bots is really lame, it kinda defeats the point of having a ranking system for me] but this game really needs that first patch to come out, there are some lag issues and the spawn points need a bit of work, especially on team games like CTF.

Other than that, good job Treyarch, if World at War was one of your favorites, you should buy this game.

Truer words have rarely been spoken

I think I'll pass on this one (until the price comes down at least...)

Well you opened the door... SH was only one of the huge Mis-Reviews that B-T has done over the last 12 months, MW2 was another with its absurd concept of not having dedicated servers. I find it interesting that that got a 9 and despite the text of this review another abortion of a game gets an 8. Does this one have dedi support? And in another thought, will MW2 get a re-review as promised.

    Romulans have long memories, enjoy.

Yours in PG Gaming as a serious Hobby Plasma,
    Star*Dagger

P.S. I do love the tech and modding sections that form B-T's heart.

Hmm. 8/10 - i haven't played much of the single player campaign, however the sheer amount of multiplayer/co-op options is far better than COD 4 and the inclusion of dedicated servers make this far more desirable than MW2 (if they can fix the lag issues).

As an indication, i know 3 of my clan mates who have played MW2, at least 10 have COD 4 and i know at least 7 that have purchased Black Ops (we don't even play the COD games competitively).

It sounds like Treyarch just finished playing "Black" and thought the whole "Flash back to the action scenes" was a great idea, that they could lift wholesale.
I finished Ecco the Dolphin without cheats. And I like that game so much I still remember "PLEASEOO" as the code for the final fight. :)

Wow what a crock this is. Last month wasn't Medal of Honor criticized for being a "turret game", having invisible walls and everything else this game does to an even greater extent? You can"t move 2" without being put into a turret scenario or slamming into an invisible wall while the AI finishes its scripted event. The storyline in MoH was based in reality as opposed to Black Ops which could have been written by a 12 year old off his ritalin who just snorted a pixie stick. What's more MoH's multiplayer had a more tactical fresher appeal and it actually worked when it released! I finished Sp and started MP I can't even play this game right now because of the stuttering and lag is so bad the game is almost unplayable despite the fact that my system far exceeds the recommended spec while running a 60 ping! What a bunch of hippocrites over at Bit-Tech! Some fanboy bought into the hype or got paid off to make this hit job of a review. Read both reviews and play both games and tell me I'm wrong. What a joke!

Don't think i will get this game, not because it's good or bad but because the cheaters and hackers will take over in a few weeks just like all the other FPS out over the last few years. MOH is realy bad right now with wallhacks and aimbots, quick youtube search will show some eye opening vid of how bad it is and CoD black ops will follow.

Won't get another FPS on PC not with all the 13 year olds thinking it's ok the load the latest hacks and just auto shoot to the top of the scoreboard.

The number scoring has never been a consistent indicator, it's just there to appease publishers otherwise no more free samples and demo invites.

If you want to know what he really thinks, that's what the review text is for.
