That Voodoo 3 box brings back memories. I actually remember the cover art on it!! Wow, I've just been smashed over the head with nostalgia! I also remember a 3d demo that came with a graphics card I had in 2001/2002. It was a chameleon on a branch and way ahead of it's time for graphics. Anyone know it and remember the card series it was from?
1997: S3 Virge, with a prebuilt Tiny PC. 2003: GeForce MX 420, with Dell PC 2005: GeForce FX 5500 (upgrade for Dell, still in use) 2007: GeForce 8600M GT, in laptop (now dead) 2011: GeForce GTX 560 Ti, in current desktop 2011: AMD Radeon 6310M, part of the E-350 in the Thinkpad (and my first GPU from the Red Team!) Overall, fairly unremarkable, but ok for a 22 year old Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
ATI Radeon HD 2400 (cant remember when i bought that, still in use today in a friends PC) Nvidia 9800GT: 2009 (still in use in my PC) not bought much as I havent been building computer for that long tbh
I've owned: 7600GT - Asked for something topend in my local computer shop. I was young so I think I got ripped off lol 5770 CrossFire I appear to have a led a rather short yet colourful life in the world of graphics cards lol
ATI Rage II (pci) ATI 9250se (agp) Nvidia FX 5600 (agp) ATI x700 (pci-e) ATI x1650xt crossfire (pci-e) ATI hd4850 (pci-e) Nvidia gtx560ti (pci-e) Current Nvidia 8400gs (pci) Most all of them were bought near release times to give an idea how long I used them. There may have been a card in between the fx5600 and the x700. The last one is really pci, bought for an old mitx board with dreadful s3 igp.
Some Voodoo AGP x2 card Cost my mum about £70 (cant remember the model number) was bought so i could play Incoming on my bitching fast Tiny PC.. Sapphire 9250 128mb was in my very first PC that i bought in 2005, system was a socket A Athlon 3200+ 1gb ram running windows XP. First PC cost me about £250 A Second Sapphire 9250 Cost me about £40 after i cooked the first one this was a 256mb edition though Sapphire X1950 512mbCost me about £120 in my second rig, which was a 939 socket Athlon 6000+ x2 with a stonking 2gb ram (later upgraded to 4gb) Zotac Geforce 8800 AMP 512mbCost me nothing : ) In the same rig as above, it was given to me by my old boss as he had just upgraded This lasted me from 2008 till 2010. Sapphire HD 6850 1GB Cost me £135 Cracking card, running in my current system (see sig) since just before Christmas.
ATi Rage 128 PowerVR 3D something TNT2 Pro Voodoo 3 2000 PCI Radeon 7500 Radeon 9800 Pro Radeon X850XT GeForce 9800GTX+ GeForce GTX260 216 2x GeForce GTX 570 that's not a lot in 12 years
Hame24 £300 ish Rainbow 3 EGS £1500.... just googled, one sold on ebay for £30.... Picasso 4 Cybervision cant remember the pc ones, coz they never really had a wow factor as my earlier cards, but i remeber my anhilator256 or something i think it was called. and the usual amd, nvidia upto my current gtx 580. So i guess the answer is no, but i do remeber the Rainbow3 as this was truly spectacular for its time and deffo worth every penny.
Nvidia TNT2 Pro 32MB. Ran final fantasy 7 at 320x240 =) ATI X1650 Pro 512MB AGP £35. Returned due to power supply issues. I never knew that at the time. ATI X1300 Pro 256MB AGP £20. I stuck an AC Accelero S1 rev 2 on it for 40c overclocked temp cheesecake. ATI HD3870 512MB PCI-E £30. Dual slot version. First PCI-E and card I used when I built Ragnarok, brilliant card for playing my backlog of steam games. AMD HD6950 1GB DirectCU II £184. My current sweet baby, quiet as a mouse, inaudible in games over my current system and maxes out my games minus ubersampling in the witches 2. Will keep it for about 2 years. Finally ragnarok is complete, now to save for a fresh build. Edit: One would think I'm an Ati fan but I done my sister a £400 Core i3 build upon it's release with a 9800gt in it. It just so happens I play more Ati biased games hence the 6950 over the 560ti.
NBot much to be honest. I use my comptuer til' their last breath. In order from 1989 til today) - ECS chipset on my Amiga - Tseng labs ET4000 1Mo (IBM 486, ISA connector) - Ati 3D Charger 4Mo PCI (3D Rage2+) - 2x Creative Labs 3DFx Voodoo2 8Mo in SLI (Yes, Creative made video cards too) - Intel i740 AGP - ELSA Riva TNT2 M64 (AGP) - PowerVR Kiro2 AGP (AGP) - Club 3D GeForce 2MX (AGP) - Creative labs GeForce 4 Ti 4400 AGP - Gainward GeForce 9600GT PCIe - Asus Radeon HD5870 V2 PCIe
does a denise chip in an amiga 500 count as a graphics card upgrade? apart from that i've from what i can remember, i've had radeon 128MB radeon x850 radeon 9800 radeon hd2900 radeon hd4870 and current one is radeon hd5870 eyefinity had a couple nvidias as well, but was never impressed with them, and so can't remember what they were, think 1 might have been a 7600
Wow let me think if I can go that far back lol Ati XT9600 Ati XT9800 Ati X800xl Ati XT850 Ati Xt1900 Ati Xt1950 Ati 5870 Ati 5970 nVidia 7900 Nvidia 7950GT nVidia 8800GTS nVidia GTX260 nVidia GTX460 nVidia GTX570
That's about it, I only built my 1st rig a year ago. Rather unfortunate decal art, but it was the cheapest 480 at the time on Scan.
I can't remember the name or make of the first one, it was CGA though in an 8086, around 1984-85. 4 colours at once! Wow! Second was EGA in a 286 S3 Virge VESA (4 MB I think) - added 2 x Voodoo 2 accelerators in SLI to that. Hercules 3D Prophet II Titanium Geforce MX400 Geforce FX5600 Radeon X800 Pro Geforce 7800 GT (golden sample) Geforce 8800 GT (golden sample) Geforce 9800 GTX Geforce 9400 (additional monitor outputs + physics) Radeon HD2600 (freebie, in spares box) Radeon HD5850 - in current rig. I think that's all of them but I've been tinkering with PCs for a few years.
Grrr fist go crashed. Cant remember all but... 4870 512 (Xfire) 7900GT (SlI & single card) Voodoo 2 SLI (no really a gtx card but hey) 8800GTS 320 8800 GTS 640 X300 8800GTX 6800LE 9800Pro 9600SE (had ~20 at one point) 9500NP @ Pro 9500 Pro 9700 Pro 4200 Ti 128mb (and maybe a 64mb too) 4800 Ti GF2 MX 440 & maybe 200 GF2 Pro GF3 Ti500 ^& maybe 200 X800 XT PE X1800 XL
