Teaser Trailer for the cars sequel: I quite liked Cars, so I'm looking forward to it. Especially as Sir Mike is in it, and you've got lines like Spoiler "Fynn McMissile, British Intelligence" "Tow Mater, Average Intelligence"
Everyone on the web is bitching about this because they think Pixar is going down the toilet with their sequels. I hope Pixar proves them wrong
GOO, what it you who liked Kung Fu Panda? I seem to remember someone had it as their avatar.. If so, or even if not so, Kung Fu Panda 2 is also due next year, with a trailer available someplace. Sam
To be fair Pixar has only made 2 sequels to date: Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 (both very good movies). Cars is only their third, and the first non-Toy Story, sequel. Of course, much of the contentious relationship with Disney came about during production of Toy Story 2, but that's another story. I'll admit, I was pleasantly surprised by Cars. I thought it would be their first flop, but it was a pretty decent movie - at least my daughter thinks so. That said, I'm skeptical of Cars 2. I'm afraid they'll just fall back on too many "ignorant American in Europe" jokes. They've been done to death now, so here's hoping that the creative folks at Pixar can come up with fresh material. Edit: Cars is also one of their lowest grossing and least popular movies, and it received fewer awards than most of their other films. It's an interesting choice to bring that franchise back.
Thats odd, I would think Ratatouille was there worst (it was weak really, lets admit it).... Some people think that was a Dreamworks picture.... And we all know how they are about movies (rip off jerks) I agree its interesting to bring that one back, I just wonder if this is going to be there thing for awhile - Sequels that is. Perhaps a 'The Incredible 2' is in the works, or a Ratatouille 2 (noooo!)
Pixar is not Dreamworks! Dreamworks sucks the donkeys. Constantly. They scored with Shrek 1 and everything since has been crap, cheap movies just to get bums on seats at cinemas. Pixar is generally full of win but Cars 1 and Ratatouille were pretty **** compared to everything else they've done, tbh. However, I'm still crying over the fact we've lost REAL ANIMATION. Only the Japanese know how to do it now. <3 Studio Ghibli.
I've given up trying to doubt the quality of Pixar movies, they've all been wonderful. The trailer was a bit bad, but I'm sure the movie will be great as usual.
Not me. I've seen it, and it was OK... I wouldn't rate it as a must see. I still don't get people who thought the original Cars was a bad movie. It wasn't. Not by a long way. It just seems that people can't get over anthropomorphised vehicles, yet have no problem with living toys, talking insects & wierd creatures who work in the power business...
my dad freaking loved cars, He was excited like a child when he bought it home from the dvd shop. Bless his soul. May buy him this for xmas if i can find a 6th hand copy.
+1 I would watch any Studio Ghibli animation over any of the 'Western' films any day of the week. Truely brilliant.
I didn't think Cars was a bad film, it simply didn't appeal to me, I could appreciate that it was quite clever but I simply didn't find it all that entertaining. I found it a bit dull to be honest but with that said, Pixar being dull is still a hell of a lot more entertaining that most others on a good day. So for the Cars sequel its a "meh" from me but I'll still go and see it, even if it is just for the short film before it.
Bet: Will Fynn McMissile say the immortal line - "I only told you to blow the bloody doors off!" I'm sure it'll be a U friendly "Bloomin" rather than "Bloody" though
Actually, I thought that the reason Ratatouille didn't work as well was because Pixar were trying something a bit different. At the time, they were looking to get themselves bought, and it wasn't a surefire thing that Disney would buy them, so Ratatouille was kind of a promo piece that was saying "Look, here we are, buy us, we can do different stuff too." Unfortunately the different look and pace, and the general lack of focus, meant that the film didn't do as well as expected, and Disney bought them anyway.
