Since i bought my pc in 2001, the only upgrades it's gotten is a lot of harddrives. I'm now considering to upgrade my computer, and I wonder if you guys have any suggestions about cases. It needs to be in aluminium and have minium 8 HDD bays.
Mountain Mods UFO Opti 1203 :- http://mountainmods.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_61&products_id=255 That will fit 10 5.25" devises !!
Coolermaster Stacker will deal with up to 16 hard disks if you relocate the front panel bit which takes up a 5.25" bay, or if you don't it'll do around 14 IIRC.
I agree. The Coolermaster Stacker is probably gonna be yer best option for a case with lots of HDD bays But do you really need to have all the HDD's fitted internally? Why not just stick some of them in [multi-bay] external enclosures
for the amount you'd spend on a stacker you might be better off to just buy a couple 500gb drives and get rid of the smaller ones. unless you need a new case anyways
a Stacker or a Lian-Li 343 with lots of 4/5-in-3s is your best bet Alternatively the lian-li full towers fit 12 internally if you dont fancy the idea of having them in the front 5.25 bays
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817121405 throw 5 of em in 3 5.25" bays... even if you dont buy that, you could get a piece of sheet steel/aluminum and make your own cage that fits in the 5.25" bays.
Lian-Li V-2000. 12 hard drives without touching your 5 1/4" bays, and with 3-to-4 adaptors, you can get 20 hard drives in and still have space for a CD-ROM. And it looks fabulous as well. (And the stacker is steel, not aluminum like the OP wants)
No idea, I saw that PC posted ages ago. Guessing not much storage as it's old. Although I do know someone with 24 750Gb HDDs, the gigs lost by allocation and lies is around 500!
a terabyte EDIT: found this... online from days past... http://www.g4tv.com/screensavers/features/38895/Build_a_Terabyte_System.html how to make a terabyte system with 8 drives in 1 computer... granted my 1.2 tb storage server has 6 drives in it, 1 is the system drive which I dont count towards the space, 1 is a hot spare, and 1 is taken up by the raid5 parity.
