Thank you for checking it and commenting guys
Just test fitting the access door to the HD bay. The finger portion will be made deeper. After that, the next step is installing the Soss Hinges.
Time to buy some stock shares in Kleenex and hand cream companies, suddenly got a feeling sales will be good as this project progress!
wow thats just too cool Bill. PVC actually looks great. I could consider it some time. just can't wait to see more!
The HD bay really sound a good idea to me.
Man that is awesome!
What are you using as a latch to keep it shut?
Slightly OT... A few months ago I started working on a mini-itx case that could be fully fabbed on my CNC. I got busy with other things and put it aside. A few days ago I opened it up and I was struck by something familiar. The overall shape of the case reminded me of something else I had seen. Was it Corsair, was it Cooler Master? I searched but couldn't quite place it... until I looked in this thread again. The familiarity was in your side panel! It looks damn near like my case's silhouette. I had to laugh. I'm chalking it up to great minds thinking alike.
On topic, the PVC panel looks fantastic. In fact, now I can say you've inspired me to make a case out of it as well. Keep up the good work bro!
Link to such case by any luck?
No linkage yet. I haven't felt like posting up pics when I've got current projects to be finished. I'll clean it up a bit and post in a few days if there is interest.
Anyway, sorry for the thread hi-jack Bill!
@ Burnout21, hehe.. Corsair has nothing to worry about. It's a kick ass case.
@Razer2007, especially if you planned to paint your case
@Fabou, cool, it's fun to open..hehe
@Roboduck, ball catch
@craigbru, Imagine an engine head gasket, then look at my panels the vertical vents over the window were last minute idea.
Cutting out the door and window openings, before I could use a Jigsaw with 18 TPI bi-metal blade, I made initial cuts in the steel panel with 1.5" Dremel reinforced aluminum oxide cutting disc
Hack sawing and filing down 10/32 socket head screws
Soss Hinges for the HD access door
I really like the hdd door! Very Original!
Can wait to see the completed mod. Apparently I haven't logged into this account for about 5 years. I had to to comment today. I got my 600T from newegg the other day, and its probably the best case I've ever had.
Wow, that is one bada$$ side panel .
Yeah, a head gasket. I love seeing the motorhead in you influence your builds!
Killer work on those hinges. They are perfectly fitting.
@Burnout21, Thanx! ...for watching and commenting along the way
@JWR, glad you like it!
@Minasokoni, wth?! lol! It's soo much better in person than what you see online, isn't it?!
@Waynio, Thanks for tuning into this project log
@craigbru, Thanks dude! You'll like working with PVC. It's a lot easier to prep 'n paint than billet.
Here is the Right side panel... "the door is a lie" ...more details will be airbrushed instead, on this side
It all looks so damn cool. I think it is asking for a chrome finish.
That door is sick.
@Razer2007, lol, I'm actually looking forward to a bit of grime on this one
@Fabou, Thank you!
One question Bill...
If one wasn't going to paint the PVC like you are, is there a way of being able to clean it up to remove scratches etc from the modding work? I am think of coloured PVC as a finished panel.
