Not just a heli - tanks, AAA guns, allsorts of stuff. Some cool weapons and stuff in there too. If you add anything to the Island.cry file, either delete it, or save it as a different file, otherwise you'll end up playing a messed-up version of the demo next time you try! :D

haha, yea, just found that out :p

I got quite good at the old sandbox but never really made a proper map. I might have a go this time. I could never figure out clever stuff like checkpoints and AI patrols though.

From what I've seen from editing the ones they had rigged up in the demo level it doesn't look too bad - don't get me wrong, I couldn't script the demo up in a month, but it doesn't look utterly impossible for someone with more talent than me. :)

Protip: Use strength mode when aiming down the scope to completely eliminate weapon recoil. But be careful! Shooting too much will deplete your suit power and you're much more vulnerable to enemy fire when out of armor mode.

Protip: Throwing people at each other with extreme force is a lot of fun!

If you see a flock of birds flying by waaay up high in the sky you can actually shoot and kill the birds. You can also pick up those little birds on the beach and run around with them. I don't know how to put them down without killing them, though...

Favorite Crysis Moment so far: Hiding in a bush, launching the turtle high into the air with strength mode, and having it knock out a Korean scout off in the distance...

I've found that with light objects, i.e. chickens, when you're in strength mode, pick one up, throw it straight up, then punch it on its way down while looking ~20 degrees down from the vertical.

Anyways, I think I hit it out of the map! I see it go really high, then !pop! disappear. (who says chickens can't fly?)

I've never had such fun with chickens before - even when Counter-strike was "in" (remember cs_italy, anyone?)

My favorite moment so far was when I was running from a couple of guys in a HMMV shooting at me and I ran behind a tree, which broke and then fell on the HMMV and killed them both.

I OC'd my CPU to 3.2 GHZ and upped the clocks on the videocard a little bit and got a huge FPS boost. I did notice a bug though. If you have AA off when you load a game and then turn it on when you're playing and then turn it off again, the menu will say its off, but it will still be on. I had to click the "optimal settings" button to get it to turn off again.

I wish my system could hack this..

Seems to me like of the games where, if you can't play it with high graphics ect. then there is no point playing it at all.

Anyone know where you can force the screen resolution higher?

Sorry, no. There are probably some launch options somewhere.

By the way, in the editor. CTRL + G into the game and then press F1 for a 3rd person perspective. The animations are a bit jerky when swapping from one to another but the movement is so fluid. The only one I'm disappointed by is the speed sprint. I want his legs to go blurry or something :p

One thing I was disappointed by is that there's no motion blur when super-sprinting - if there's motion blur from looking left and right, surely running at like 40mph would give one?

Is it just me or did that motion blur give any of you a headache? After playing for an hour I had to take a break.

    Here's something interesting for you..

I was poking around in the game's files and found that in the game folder, under "Crysis SP Demo\Game\Config\gpu" there's a file called nvidia.txt, which contains a number of lines like this:

    0x10DE, 0x0242, 1 // NVIDIA GeForce 6100
    0x10DE, 0x0245,-1 // NVIDIA Quadro NVS 210S / NVIDIA GeForce 6150LE
    0x10DE, 0x029C,-1 // NVIDIA Quadro FX 5500
    0x10DE, 0x0191, 4 // NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
    0x10DE, 0x0193, 3 // NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
    0x10DE, 0x0194, 4 // NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra

This is presumably a file which determines what the optimal graphics settings for your system are, based on your GPU. I assume this because the game's config files use the numbers 1-4 as the behind-the-scenes designation of Low to Very High. (1 = Low, 4 = Very high). You can see how, above, the game will use this file to assign a value of "High" to the 8800GTS, and "Very high" to the GTX and Ultra.
I'm assuming that -1 means "incompatible", as it's beside all of the cards which shouldn't be able to run the game.

Now, here's the interesting bit.. At the very end of the file:

    0x10DE, 0x0194, 4 // NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra
    0x10DE, 0x0400, 2 // NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
    0x10DE, 0x0402, 2 // NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
    0x10DE, 0x0421, 1 // NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
    0x10DE, 0x0422, 1 // NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
    0x10DE, 0x0423, 1 // NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS
    0x10DE, 0x0611, 4 // NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Look at that last line. :D

So Crysis expects the 8800GT to be able to handle "Very High", up there with the GTX and Ultra?

I'm sure Rich and the others in the B-T offices are thinking "Psch, we knew that months ago" and I can imagine they might have confirmed it recently, but it's interesting to see for those of us not under NDAs, all the same.. ;)
