Wow, that was a long time ago. Anyways, let me break it down;
You link to an anti-religious website with alt-text of the religious site so Google indexes the alt-text value as being assodiated with it. That way, then people search for the religious site, they instead get directed to the site explaining why religion is dumb. It's pretty simple SEO really.

Most people will never notice it (because who hovers over the link, right?), but search engines do. And that's why it's a Googlebomb.

before someone says it increasing the number of posts to 100 only means there are less pages, there is still the same amount of content and the same number of posts. the time saved is small
