Owned both, kept PSP. But I still think they're both a waste of money :sigh:

PSP. :) I agree with P2D about the ages. Totally different markets.

Imho it depends if you want fun arcadey easy games, or proper console style games in your palm. ;-)

Pro Evolution Soccer 5. On the train. In the morning. On the way to work.

    PSP > Everything.

The PSP has games now? :p

Seriously though, I've not really enjoyed any experience I've had on the PSP thus far. It would seem the games are made in a rather backwards fashion. I think Katamari will rock though.

I prefer the more innovative route most DS games seem to have taken. Under The Knife, Wario Ware, Nintendogs, Ace Wright: Ace Attourney, Electroplankton etc. Say what you like about how 'it's for kids', these games are just plain fun.

Only even seen nintendogs and it looked like a tamagotchi rip off made for 8 yr olds (well it was an 8yr old playing it and she loves it ;))

Couple of great games on PSP now inc Pro Evo 5 and GTA:LCS, as well as the old classics like virtual tennis, ridge racer, nfs etc.

Not sure if the whole age divide thing is totally accurate, but in general most of the DS games do seem to be aimed at kids.

I agree with K! The PSP just hasn't got anything of interest to me to warrant the price. On the other hand the DS has got loads of great games: Advance Wars, Mario Kart, Kirby, Sonic Rush, Tony Hawks etc

I just want my handheld to do games. If I want Internet, MP3s, movies etc I'll use my phone.

Ditto all the way. There aren't enough games on a PSP that would make me go out and buy it. I was disappointed to see the Metal Gear game turn out to be a card game, and with GTA:LCS using pretty much the same map as GTA3. Im looking to get a DS sometime, and when I do, its Mario Kart all the way!

I'd agree partially with the PSP comments, as the games seem to be taking an age to appear. But stuff like Mercury, Lumines, PES5, World Championship Snooker (yes you did read that correctly) and Wipeout make it well worth the price in my opinion... although I would like to see more games released for it, more quickly. But then it's a Sony machine, so what did I expect?

I do fancy the DS now that the games are being released more steadily, and with a better use for the second screen that just a friggin' map or radar (see the ones K mentioned).

Incidentally, I played Nintendogs over Christmas... it made blood come out my ears from sheer knuckle-gnawing nausea.

The DS is bar far the most fun of the two, With innovative games and features, I thnk the future is very bright for the ds, Re the PSP , my brother had one but sold it within a month as he had no desire to play it !!! He now agrees with me that if you wan to play ps2 games then why play them on a small screen with uncomforable controls?!?

And with the announcement of the DS Lite !, Well no linger can the DS be called the ugly duckling :)

I've got both. DS is better by far though. Little fact: The DS sold better than the PSP in Japan for a few months maybe a year, I can't remember exactly. Go DS!

couldn't say it any better. Your not gonno get any 'serious' games on the DS but then again your not gonno get any 'fun young' games on the psp ... well not a wide range of them anyway

It has consistently outsold the PSP in fact. Only the past couple of months, where there were immense DS stock shortages in Japan, did PSP sales significantly catch up... But we all know now WHY there stock shortages. Ahem.

The PSPs industrial design is pretty goddam fantastic though. Something about picking one up gets you all giddy and it feels all precious. It looks like it's worth a thousand dollars, generally. It's a shame it's current library is so bland. Everything I like on it... I've already got it for PS2! I'd like to see way more innovative games on PSP like Mercury, Lumines and Exit (which looks fantastic!).

In a perfect world I'd have both, but for now I'm counting down the days to the DS Lite's release and am anticipating:
    Mario and Luigi
    Ace Wright
    Electroplankton
    Animal Crossing
    Mario Kart
    Metroid
    Another Code
    Kirby
    Wario Ware
    Under the Knife
    Castlevania
    etc etc etc!!

Just listing them off the top of my head like that makes me realise how many games there are on the DS I am just dying to play. Glancing at pretty much any review site gives gushing reviews for pretty much all of these titles.

Aint got either, but I play on the PSP regularly in college due to 3 classmates having them and playing football over college WAN with other people in the college.

Must say it is really cool, defo better than the DS.

I only played the DS once, but it seemed like all other gameboys to me, overpriced piece of crud.

I just wish my DS would connect to Mario Kart WFC now I've gone and bought a compatible wireless router and it's still having none of it. Mario Kart is such damn good fun though.

My brother-in-law got a PSP for Christmas and it looked very nice and sleek. The screen was drop jaw gorgeous and watching Ridge Racer being played was amazing. Who'd a thunk it that RR would end up as a game you could pull out of a pocket? I thought it was mind-blowing when RR first came out for the original PS - "What? An arcade machine On The Telly? Cor, flippin eck!" (back then woot hadn't been invented :) )

I kinda wish that Nintendo had made the original DS a little, well... sleeker. Alongside a PSP it does look a bit carp. Might very well trade my DS in for a DS Lite. That said though, I think I'd rather have a DS over a PSP.. just.

I have a DS and love it of course and I'm a good deal older than 14 :lol The kiddie thing is an old and tired argument really. In fact, it's kids that are usually wowed by shiny things and don't look beneath the surface. Anyway, Nintendogs isn't for everyone sure, but there are a lot of great games. And yes the DS has consistently caned the PSP in sales here.
