I wanted to say with switches integrated in the sheet, but it's not bad at all like that ! OK for the heatsink
that fan needs protection of some sort... Otherwise, I can already see a 'oh ****, something fell on the fan and broke off the blades!' ... Otherwise, very nice project ya got going.
I have two fans like this on my Radiator for a year now and all blades are ok, so no protection needed .
I would give it some protection of any kind, but hey, it's your project. I really like all of it. I'm impressed. If this continues, you belong in the top modder list, just as Piloux, ZapWizard and MacroMan.
As I said before the engraving (the letters and circles) was done by a metalwork shop. There is no way I could do that in this quality, I don't have the right tools for it. I am definitily not a top-modder like piloux or ZapWizard but thanks for the compliment .
what about the plastic, what was that cut with? and how did you find the machining shop, was it local?
Just a thought - Most HTPC systems need one key thing: A TV tuner. I know you've got a PCI slot there, but do you intend on adding one? There are low profile hardware encoders out there (namely the ati e-home wonder) that would probably do decently with an epia setup and would likely fit in your case with a bit of bracket modding.
wow nice work for cutting the plastic, i always have trouble with that. How did you join it together? Can you give me an approximate cost on the machining work? It looks great though, maybe you could use some kind of led feet to give it some underglow, that would be neat.
I ordered the Adaptec VideOh! DVD Media Center USB 2.0 Edition today, because the Leadtek card has some sound issues with the epia Board, so it went to ebay. Röhm Acrifix 192 (Datasheet) , a very good adhesive for plexi. ~15$ for the engraving. Mmmh lighted feet, nice idea, didn't thought of that. I will give it a try, when the LEDs arrive .
SWF: Excellent mod - very nice. Personally, I think the LED's that give the box a blue tint (notice the ones placed to the left of the fan) are pretty cool. If you could place them just right, you would get the effect that the case itself is glowing. Even better - you could alternate colors withj multiple LED's - go from blue to red to green, etc. Just a thought. Awesome mod - subscribed, of course.
