And yet they still lag in black ops like the rest of us.
Maybe the want to play ARMA2 at a decent framerate with everything at max.
Bah, 1 Petaflop. When I saw this shortened thread title on the main forum index I thought a European HPC had broken the world record :/
Someone break in and install F@H on that monster.
Is that datacentre picture real? Does bit-tech have more photos?
They probably simulating a roman attack on a unnamed coastal village in Armorica, a province of Gaul (modern France) That is defended by a magic potion made by a druid that gives the village people unbelievable strength. They particularly focus on a fat dude caring a big stone 'thingy' who fell into a kettle which contained the potion as a child. They trying to simulate roman armies defeating this dude in countless simulations but until now they have failed to defeat this dude. With the new 1.5PF power they are confident that they will find a solution.
* and Obelix?
Keyword is "break"; now they have to "fix" the petaflop barrier. It was made of concrete I believe.

I am very intrigued by that mesh design on the cabinets. Recon it does not have any functional use but nonetheless makes it all look so out there.
What would be interesting to know is how well does something like that scale out or scale up. Or is it just a run-and-burn solution which needs to be replaced completely after the workload put too much burden on the hardware.
This certainly looks like it. The numbers correspond too.
Stupid humans always using supercomputers to design a better bomb. Imagine the progress that could be made if all that power was put to worthwhile endeavors.
Yeah, what could be more worthwhile than killing folk?
The only nukes ever dropped on people were designed with pencil and paper.
Just wait for WW3 and we can all enjoy the fruits of these supercomputers.
