had a 140bhp saxo vts untill someone drove into it and wrote it off. did over 135mph a few times, pretty good acceleration.

    currently a 150bhp astra diesel

cant insure anything fast :( bit of a record, getting clocked at 180+kmph will do that lol. asked my last insurer what would they charge me to insure a civic type r and they just said they wouldnt.

By virtue of the fact it's the only car I've ever owned: a 1998 Vauxhall Corsa with a 973cc, 3 cylinder beast under the bonnet. Top speed - 98MPH as far as I can tell (if the conditions are right).

I've driven a Ferrari 360 and a Clio V6 though. They were a little bit faster.

Volvo V70 2.5T. My dad did 185 km/h on the german autobahn. We had to catch the Gedser-Rostock ferry. When we refilled it with oil after comming home, it swallowed 2,5 liters.

My dad owned a Peugeot 406 V6 before the Volvo. That kicked ass too :D

Not really had any fast cars to be honest.

My most powerful was a Vauxhall Omega 3.0 with 210bhp, but it was heavy! Guess the quickest must be a Mondeo ST24 with 170bhp.

Although my 150bhp Cavalier felt quicker.

I had a chipped BMW 325i, sheesh it was fast. It was the E36 model, the last one the made before they started to fit electronic nannies - the only driver aid you had was ABS.

After that I had a V6 4-motion golf, which was 4 wheel drive with 206 BHP. It was fast and held the road really well but I still loved the beamer, that straight six had a beautiful rumble and at times quite frightening acceleration and it was a real looker as well with M3 alloys.

Now I've got a dull company car (i.e. diesel) courtesy of my wife's employer, its a Mazda 6 sport. Very nice equipment and very smooth to drive but I still miss my 325, even if it was useless in the snow.

My current Volvo 440 1800cc with a mighty 98bhp, however its a light f**ker it's curb weight is only 1069Kg with a full tank, keeping its around 1/4 tank it just a little above a ton.

    Stats

    1st gear pulls 30mph
    2nd gear pulls 55mph
    3rd gear pulls 90mph
    4th gear to 110mph
5th to 125mph on a good straight, but you tend to look at your watch alot between 110 and 125, lol!

For reference on speed, its faster at accelerating to 60 than my mums Ford focus 1.8 zetec (115hp), and my friends old astra (B) 1.8 SRI 120hp was an even match to 100mph.

All GPS referenced which is a little dodgy when your bombing along at 100 odd trying to read the little text on the screen, asking for death that! lol!

my last car, Volvo 740 2.3 auto pulled to 130mph, took a while to get to 60, but acceleration from 60 with the kick down was very easy to snap past the national speed limit in a blink! true motorway car that!

Those 2.5T Volvos can shift quite a good bit if they need to. ESPECIALLY the older ones.... I was VERY tempted the other day when I saw a 2.5T S60 R advertised for a good price. Importing it from ZA would've killed the price though.

Yes, the 2.5T or T5 engine kicks a significant amount of butt. It is also quite lovely for eating kilometers on the autobahn.

Or current car is a 1.6 liter Kia Ceed diesel.. It's not as nice as the Volvo I must say ..

1995 Landrover Defender, 2.5L turbo diesel, ~100hp (allegedly). Had it up to 86.6mph (on GPS) with 1.5 tonnes of BIG flatbed trailer, train weight = 3200kg. Anyone who's been in defender will know, 70mph is scary enough! It was on that long downhill stretch on the M40, took ages to hit that speed and certainly wouldn't stop for a while, great fun thundering past people.

Never to be repeated, although since running it on vegetable oil the top speed is now ~60mph on flat :(

Especially the ones in the S60R AWD and the V70R AWD (MY04 to MY07).
220kw (300bhp) B524T2-R Engine. Same one used in the MY09 Focus RS. Just with AWD, these things are known for having potential beyond 400kw. There're numerous videos of these puppies dropping Ferraris, M3s, M5s, etc on Youtube.

Ah yes, for when you absolutely and positively have to smoke every Porsche and Ferrari at the light, while your Great Dane is in the trunk along with 3 kids on the backseat.
