    Heya all,

I'm having a bit of a problem with the temp of my computer at the moment.
I switched on the machine this morning and noticed it didn't sound like an aircraft taking off, so I whipped of the side and checked around. I noticed 1 Fan wasn't spinning (120mm intake fan on the front) so I unplugged it and noted down I needed to get another fan.

Paranoia sunk in after about 1 hour of gaming and I decided to check the temperatures of CPU and GPU and I got a bit shocked.

The CPU seems pretty high, the GPU a bit as well, But I had been gaming for about 1/2 hours at this point.

I'm having no FPS problems or anything so far (touch wood) but Obviously this seems rather high. I was debating buying a Q9550 to replace my outdated E6600 this week but now i'm concerned there might be another problem.

I checked the mountings for the cpu heatsink and they where all firmly attached. Any Ideas?

    I'm using a

    P5K-E Wifi
    Duo E6600
    XFX GTX 260
    x2 OCZ 2GB DDR2

Like I said I was debating replacing the chip for a quick upgrade due to being a bit strapped for cash at the moment. But now i'm not to sure.

    Thanks for any help

What's the problem? Change dead fan and upgrade to the q9550!
    Problem solved?

CPU is OK, high but well within its limits, gpu looks good!
    get the fan working!

Ah fair play, I thought the cpu was higher than its meant to be, as I've seen people saying they are usually 65 degrees under load not 83 which it was at one point

Sorry bout that, was worried

yes 83 is too hot! you never mentioned that before ;)

If you would like to know, my Q9550 while folding runs at max 70 degrees C with an Akasa 965 and o/c to 3.68ghz...

Sort that front fan out asap and make sure you install one at the back to suck out the hot air!
