Just spent an afternoon using a some software that said was free, only to be held at knifepoint for £40 or they'd slap a huge watermark on it. Not amused.

    Recommendations please.

Requirements: Cut, zoom, insert sound, insert/overlay graphics and be able to size and position them, seperate sound from video footage.

No, just hit with a fee or watermark demand. Original footage on my phone and seperate folder on my pc so nothing really lost, other than a big bunch of time.

this sort of rips-off is so common those days, that is something that really pisses me off, I experienced that with many so-called freewares, turning out to be inoperable without paying it, but misleading advertises seems to be permitted as a normal and perfectly allowed procedure :miffed:, crazy world we're living in :sigh:

I mean, it's pretty much the same UX as any other pro-grade video editor - Vegas Pro looks and works in a damn-near identical fashion. But if it's not for you, it's not for you.

Well I then tried VSDC and I almost smashed my pc to bits in frustration, just trying to crop a clip. Probably more to do with my mental stability and capacity more than anything. It was only when i tried adding a still image in resolve that it spazzed out and i lost patience with it, but going to have another try.

    • Vegas Pro turns up on Humble Bundle with some regularity.
    • Linux favourite KDEnlive is also available for Windows.
    • If you want a really steep learning curve, Blender can also edit video.

After calming down and offering a pepperami as a sacrifice I tried resolve again. We're getting on ok now. 3 videos and a still have been cropped and transitioned satisfactorily.

A repositioning of expectations was also required. My PowerPoint wizardry may be of use, but it's a whole new presentation game.

A sacrifice to the video software gods or to Andy's belly?
