Just for a bit of info on the LGA sockets in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775 There is the same principle between all of Intel's sockets, some of the logic behind moving the pins from the CPU to the motherboard was the chip was more expensive to replace than the board if it got damaged and the packaging costs of pins on a motherboard is less than that on a CPU. Just for confirmation any CPU intended for a LGA socket should not have pins on it, but contact points. Your motherboard will have the pins behind a socket protector.
...Did we have a sense of humor bypass? Like I said, couldn't do the 'cup holder' joke could I, you're way beyond that one...
Appologies I'm sorry that was harsh. You've said you've built with the 775 socket before though, was it just brain fail ?
...Is it true that if you buy a cheap CD drive, take it to bits and paint the laser with the right colour blue glass paint, you can turn it into a Blu-Ray reader... I've tried 6 so far but must not be using the right shade of Blue... Any suggestions... (...oh, and yes... I AM JOKING... I DO IT PROFESSIONALLY... the joking that is... the rest of my life is utterly amateur.)
Is that the same blue as on the front of Embassy Regal fags? If I peel that off and turn the laser up that'll do it...
