    It's the price you (and perhaps I in the future...) pay for keeping your hobby alive.

    I think my days of contributing seriously to the propping up of my local game store are well behind me!

    I think Indomitus is the most I've spent in six months on GW related products.

    Finished off my "Spares" kill team (Which I have no intention of using..) today;

    The whole shebang; https://imgur.com/a/XhwS3fh

    Edit: I know it's not Warhammer, but I doubt there's another thread suitable, and this isn't going to be a quick project..

    I've always wanted a Metal Gear Rex model, but the only good ones are unobtainable for one reason or another, so I'm taking it upon myself to build my own. I don't know what scale, and my efforts with Sketchup to design something were met with frustration, so I just started drawing on some styrene and well.

    [IMG]

    Not sure if it's prototype, or the start, but given that it's mostly eyeballing it I'm not unhappy.

    @liratheal are you working off a CAD model, or doing it freestyle?

    Freestyle, I did start trying to make something in Sketchup, but I wasn't feeling the sense of scale I wanted to feel so I just started drawing it on some super thing styrene and started cutting.

    It'd probably be saner to do it in CAD first and then have a set of measurements, but I just wasn't getting the right vibe from my limited Sketchup skills.

    Edit: Measurements would probably have made this a lot easier;

    The chin juts out more than that model in the background (Which, I believe, is the most accurate model - But also uses some artistic license with the design), but about the same as another model. I'm not sure I want to "fix" it yet.

    A lot of stuff is longer or bigger because I prefer to go oversize and file/cut back down once I know where I stand. I don't know how much thickness I'm going to add just by adding the detailing to the front, so. Some leeway is needed.

    Because of course it has.

    The instant I start a project like this, something comes back onto sale. Although that site linked claims it's backorder only, so I guess it sold out immediately. I can see a couple of those on the bay for ~150€. The only one I'd be willing to spend big money on is the ThreeA 1/48th one (Which, on release, was about $500, but is now anywhere over $1000..).

    So far mine hasn't cost me a penny!

    Just some frustration and head scratching;

    Although I do now really need to buy some more styrene sheet, tube, I-beam, and both round and square rod.

    Bought some water washable resin for my printer and it's an absolute dream to use compared to the other stuff!! The first project, My 'old' printed Ghaz vs new printed Ghaz, the mass of green in the background is all Ork boyz (2nd ed style)

    i looked into the water washable stuff, and its very intriguing, especially as it will save the cost of the IPA, whats the smell like on it ? the print quality looks pretty good though i will say it would look better if you threw a coat of primer on it as translucent resin doesnt show up too well on camera

    It could just be me but I find this resin has less of a smell than my previous stuff, and the fact that I can just take the print off and chuck it in some water rather than IPA just means in general there's less mess about

    The pic is fairly terrible but there's still some cleanup on the model to do yet hence the lack of priming, one thing I have noticed is that the water washable resin is giving me more failed supports, I've not had anything totally unfixable yet but there are a few parts that have 'wandered' a little..

    I'll be keeping an eye on Darktide, that looks like it could be worth playing!

    Mars pattern titan something I reckon.

    Reminds me of one of the foot pieces of a Reaver. But it's a hell of a lot less mouldline-y than a FW one.

    ^ there is no game when you are around, >_< it is indeed one of the foot pieces for the Mars Reaver titan no mould lines on this one, just marks where the support structure connected ( that can easily be sanded down ) and the line(s) across from where the Z axis didnt move freely, but currently just testing the resin

    decided to go for abit of a test next with the embossed Knee plates, i cant print the whole Reaver on the Mars ( id need the bigger Saturn for that ) so the larger peices will be plastic printed, till i get a bigger Resin printer anyway

    To be fair, I did get rather intimate with a Reaver when building it after misplacing the instructions :p

    Colour me impressed, ( single thin layer of Primer because translucent resin is a ball-ache to photo with my potato camera )

    I'm just getting into resin printing and like you, I'm using water washable resin. I too have been really impressed with finish. If I were still into wargaming then I would be printing everything. Its so detailed.
