already have, a fair few of the parts i was after are/were permanently out of stock and the last time i asked FW the response was 'nope... you have to buy the whole thing/kit'... but that was over email [getting them to respond at all was a bit of a pain] might try phoning them...
Me and a friend have decided to start fantasy, any of you lot play fantasy? Thinking of picking up a load of lizardmen
Andy's lizardmen are dangerously good. I've seen him devastate armies with them. He lost one or two models in a 2k game, while demolishing 2k of orks. It's got to the stage where he won't play them in store any more, because he wins so often with them.
Brilliant. Going down next week when I get paid and picking up a battleforce and there army book I think. Still not 100% certain which army I'd like to play yet, really cant decide as per usual lol
I'm 100% Fantasy at the moment, planning to start up 40k next year. My main army is Lizardmen and I agree that they are immensely powerful against the majority of armies. Even with a simple setup of Saurus warriors you can tear through most things. Throw in use of the Engine of the Gods and you'll be one of the more annoying people to play against. If you're into magic, you might like the special bonus of having a Slann and a Skink Priest... your Slann can cast it's magic through the Skink (as long as it is within 24") giving you double the locations to cast spells from. It's a very handy feat. Edit: Avoid Wood Elves at the moment, until they redo their army book you'll find that they are practically useless.
Yea wood elves arent one of my choices. Love the models but dont wana play an army that sucks. Atm I'm thinking either: Lizardmen Vampire Counts Tomb Kings Empire. One of the above but cant decide lol
I know some ogre players, but they're.. Um.. Bad. Ogres themselves look good, but the players tactics look all bass-ackwards.
One of the people at our club plays Ogres, very fun to play against but she almost never wins. To put it into perspective, I used about 300-400 points of Dwarves (I had a full army but most of them didn't make it to the battle in time) against a 1000 point Ogre army and still won. Once the leadbelchers were gone the rest seemed to fall apart. I've got half an Ogre army as well but I'm more doing them as a display case army than one to play with.
Just for reference the conversions are for non-smurf/chapter-specific conversions of following characters: Sicarius, Cassius and Pedro Kantar [and if i can scrounge enough parts maybe Tigurius and Belial] The forgeworld character upgrade pack is the only 'kit' i want all/most of the bitz from in addition to that: For Sicarius Mk 2 Armour Head/Body/Legs/Pads [Mk 2 Backpack optional] Set of arms from the Mk2/5 Assault Squad Power Sword and Plasma Pistol from the character upgrade pack For Cassius Assault squad Power Axe Command Squad Winged Skull Standard Top Winged skull power armour torso [and matching back] this chaos marine helmet 2x shoulder pads, preferably one with a skull on it Bionic Left Arm, Legs and combi-flamer from the character upgrade pack For Kantar Mk 8/Tactical Sergeant Torso front and matching back Company champion pads and helmet this Angelus Boltgun and matching hand any set of SM legs Power fist from the FW upgrade pack + backpacks and bases still working on what bits I'd need for the tigurius conversion, it's either going to involve the FW red scorpion libby and/or a load of grey knight bits
Anyone know if Bretonnians are any good at the moment? I haven't really looked at them in a long time.
I have the power sword and plasma pistol from the FW upgrade pack, I've used the power fist, bionic legs, and bionic arm. I definitely have one of those angelus pattern boltgun arms/hand. Winged Skull power armour front I should have somewhere, I may have the winged skull banner top, but I'm not sure whether I butchered that for the wings on my Chaplain's crozius. Company Champion pads I'd need to check, but I feel sure I've got at least one. I also have a lot of GK bits for both troops and terminators, if anything in particular strikes your fancy. I'll try and pull all those mentioned bits out either tonight or tomorrow night if you want. I run Bretonnians, or at least, I will do when I stop arsing about and paint the bloody things. They seem effective when running large units and going for flanks, but I'm no "fantasy" expert, so it remains to be seen whether my no magic/monsters army is sustainable.
Well, for those of you who are interested, I've got a little FS thread going over on Whingeseer. Looking for a buttload of the metal daemonettes done by Juan Diaz, and the Seekers as well, if anyone knows of anyone selling them at a reasonable price, not 60 quid for 6 poorly painted Daemonettes, kindly let me know. Many thanks.
Could be Christmas release, then wood elves to follow in the new year. Bret armies atm work well there book is just dated. Wood Elves work just have to play certain lists etc.
Cheers for the feedback on the Brets all, I'll have a deeper look into it. I think I'll start up an army anyway because I want to have at least a small army for every race. Think I'm going to order a couple of Tyranid bits to prepare for next years 40k start-up as well.
This is mainly @ liratheal but if anyone has any of these bits going spare for the following conversion [including the ones above]: Tigurius: Grey Knight PA Torso Bare GK PA head GK PA Legs [not the ones with the tabbard or the =][= symbol] SM Commander right arm Nemesis Warding Stave Assault squad bolt pistol left arm *or* the pointing arm from the SM command squad 2x GK PA pads, 1 blank, 1 with the book/sword + backpack + base + if anyone has either some of the FW salamander pads or the salamander symbols from the transfer sheet [more likely] ... i can see this snowballing into a bit of a monster
