I have problems True Gamer :(

Yesterday I reinstalled windows and since then I am getting blue screens :( and it says ati something.sys fail .....

I have tried 10.12, 10.10e and nothing I am still getting blue screen in games like Alien vs predator and sometimes in BBC2.

Should I reinstall windows again? or the problem is with my card?

    Enable Hidden folders in control panel and then follow below;

Try deleting the xmp profiles ((All files in these folders)Its OK as these files will rewrite them self.) in Local disk C:/User/yourname/AppData/Local/ATI and in AppData/Roaming/ATI and in Local Disk C: ProgramData/ATI
Now reboot and test some games.

If that does not work, I would reformat the HDD and install a new copy of Win 7. That should solve it.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Latest Original Sapphire (not OC edition) 5970 2GB BIOS

    Hello true_gamer mate,

You know I need the latest original Sapphire (NOT OC edition) 5970 2GB BIOS. Could you somehow upload that up if you have it?

I tried to ask Sapphire for this but I had to register my card with them and I don't have the original cooler (where all the s/n and p/n codes are) any more. So, what do you suggest man?

    Hello true_gamer,
I hope you can help me.
    i have 5970-5870-5870 on crossfire.
5970 have ati bios and 5870's have xfx bios.
    configuration is
5970 850 gpu clock 1000 memory clock master %98 loaded and 68 degrees
5970 850 gpu clock 1000 memory clock slave %98 loaded and 73 degrees
    5870 970 gpu clock 900 memory clock %98 loaded and 77 degrees
    5870 970 gpu clock 900 memory clock %98 loaded and 73 degrees
    constant working.

for me is memory clock not important, it can all of them 800-900 np
important is gpu clock. is it possible that i can run all of the 4 gpu 1000mhz

because when i try 5870 to 1000 it hangs 5970 to 900 it hangs.
    i dont touch the voltage.
is there any setting or bios to flash that by 950 or 1000 mhz gpu voltage settings will be fine
    and working good without hanging?
    thanks best regards

You can still flash you NON OC card with the OC vbios.

How are you getting all 3 cards running at different frequency? The HD5870's will down clock to the HD5970 speeds? so if your HD5970 is running at 850/1000, then so would your HD5870.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Wow this thread is amazing, kudos to True Gamer for this. I have a Powercolour 5970 with the coldboot issue and the BIOS from their tech support didn't solve it unfortunately - what would I need to edit to flash to the Sapphire bios as this seems to be the most succesful at solving this issue.

    Cheers.

OOOO that i was not knowing, but now all the 3 cards are running on 925 mhz gpu. on 85 degrees
    and i ordered watercooling.
when i get my watercooling can i then go to 1200 mhz gpu (5870-5870-5970)
or must i make some changes to the bios for voltage.
your bios file what you give is form sapphire, if i flash that i think the 5870 must be sapphire to for drivers. can you help me please for voltage settings how i must do that, because with msi burner i cannot touch or change the voltage.
    thanks.

Hi all friends, i get my watercoolingsets, i installed everything fine,
but now i have problem with my 5970 card,
i have 5870x2 and 5970 in crossfire. monitor goes out of from 1 of the 5870 card.
when i surf dont play anything or dont load the cards with activity, there is no problem.,
but when i load programs that use the gpu's my pc crashes. the temps are about 20 degrees and from the monitor is 32 degrees.
when i disable 5970 from control panel then it is not crashing.
and sometimes with 5970 when it is crashed and restarted i dont see the 5970 anymore in the control
panel. after restart pc couple times of reinstall driver it comes back.
why is this problem now after watercooling ??
can anybody help me out please.
    BG

    Treu_gamer bro,
can you make for me a bios flash from post #449
    hd5870 = 1000/1000
    hd5970 = 1000/1000
    please

ny hd5870 are from xfx factory. and hd5970 is ati but i used the flash from 1 post from you. 1000/1300

i think mayby i can flash xfx inside the 5970.
then is all one factory vendor and 1000/1000
    thanks

To true_gamer; first many many thanks. It's because of this thread and RBE that I've got my 5970s in quad XFire at 850 core 1100 mem. And I've got the fan setup pretty close to perfect. High temps are usually around 76 and during most games the fans don't run all that loud after some constant tweaking.

I do have a minor quibble though. And I'm not sure this is actually something that can be fixed through the BIOS or is more of a driver thing. Issue is this.. My clock speeds while just on the desktop are pretty much always 400, 725, 725, 725 per core respectively instead of the 400, 157, 157, 157 that they should be. It occasionally is the correct speeds but eventually reverts back to the wrong ones. Think this is a driver issue because when I open up my vBIOS and look at them(both M and S) that 725 number isn't present anywhere.

Again, it's really a minor nuisance but if their is a way to fix it I sure would like to know..

    To Bigbrothers2000

I have an odd bug that's similar to yours.

Mine is if I try to launch a game if my 5970's are to cold. It's weird it really is and seems counterintuitive. Under normal computing my GPU temps are 45(GPU 1) and 41((GPU3)(and that's on air)). What I have to do is get something that uses all 4 GPUs to start(and Furmark doesn't use 4, will use two however). Unigine is always my best bet. I have to get it to run and let it run till my GPU temps are around 50. After that I can game normally after.
