Indeed. For servicing a used EV, I'd recommend a company called Cleevely EV.
They will do the service and also minor repairs and upgrades on your own driveway/office car park.
They cover the entire mainland UK (and a few of the islands) in their flotilla (3 and counting) of MG5 electric estate cars.

Well time to close out the saga. I just signed the contracts to order a ioniq 5 premium 77kwh in black from octopus ev with salary sacrifice.

Thanks for all the input and debate and even the more contrary perspectives. It all helped put into perspective my decision making process and in many ways affirmed why I was looking EV only.

I definitely didn't expect to lease but the salary sacrifice made it an easier pill to swallow. Have officially agreed to spend more over the next 3yrs on a car than I have over the entire last 15 yrs. But what's the point of earning enough money to afford nice things if you don't get the nice things. Total luxury indulgence but it will make me smile for a good while!

Hopefully delivery will be in the next month rather than 3months but it's a waiting game for a confirmation of date.

See you in 3 yrs time for an update and new debate!

Very nice! Ioniq 5 is a highly reviewed car. Its styling is more special than EV6, but they are very similar car underneath. 800v system means you shouldn't have any problem charging quickly at 350kw chargers.

Only downside, again for me, was the dealer (somehow, it's always the dealer for me). They didn't call me back when I called for test drive last year. My previous experience, in 2017, pricing up Ioniq hybrid was also very bad. It's a case of sales man getting more and more condescending when I don't play their numbers game. I always converted their numbers to total spend and then back to monthly, which doesn't change much regardless of how much deposit I put in.

Sometimes after a very long day at work or a day out, it's nice to sit in a quiet relaxing space and let it do most of the work.

Yeah, that's me out then. £10-50k, which knowing my luck would see me at the upper end of that range. Plus I didn't think about where the battery would go so I assume I'd end up losing space (on the guesswork that they won't be able to make mine like sandys' with the battery in the tunnel). I don't think it's quite classic enough to justify that cost, but I could possibly be pushed into it if they were to make electric compulsory for whatever reason. It's so far from electric at the moment it doesn't even have the stereo wired in...
That place looks the nuts! But seen the price on that 6R4?! £300k-ish? :jawdrop: @sandys - we could buy eight rattly old Fords and hold our own championship circuit for that money!
Always the way with the old zeitgeist. I never really took to the Chevettes or Mantas, but those Lancias were ace - the Delta and the 037. One of those on the drive would be pretty rad. Mate of mine runs a Mk1 and Mk2 Escort on the track (I'll see if I can dig out a photo) and has just got hold of an M-Sport R5 second hand, which he's currently abusing. Expensive hobby though.
Any motor with "Grrr" in the name deserves to be bought and made to prove it. I say go for it.
    Sunroof?

Is that a 720 rad in front of that car?

Also, because this thread is in hardware section. I'm expecting RGB mod to your car once you collect it. Also need an mITX build in the frunk to fit "portable" tag

Personally don’t see the appeal of electrifying classics, the very appeal of the classics is the drivetrains response, noise and feedback, however bad/good, unless it is just the looks you are after, I means is there going to be any fun in that Datsun when it hasn’t been fitted with a lairy RB26, sure the electric will skid lovely but it will lack that cacophony of noise from the engine bouncing off the limiter, none of the smells, the flames, just the looses the entire drama, it’ll just be a fast milk float.

The appeal of electrifying classics (most of which are bolt-in jobs, the ICE unit can be swapped back in at any time), is when the owner lives in a ULEZ city, but still wants to enjoy their classic car around town.
Besides, all that heat and noise is just the engine throwing away 2/3 of the energy that's put into it.

An “emulated engine”? No, a trip to Alfaholics for me.

My thoughts exactly - part of owning a classic is enjoying the period features - the feedback, NVH etc, and the engine is a huge portion of that. An electrified classic is absolutely missing the point for me.

    Don't hold your breath!

My Brother in law has a GR Yaris, and I've been lucky enough to drive it, but it's very much a car of two halves. On one hand it's a fantastic piece of engineering, and a very satisfying thing to thread down a country road, but on the other it has many of the modern car's issues - too many electronic nannies, pretty lifeless steering, lack of induction noise/character from the engine.

Honestly I'd spend the same money on something else.

They can also upgrade the battery in the original Leaf. For example if you've an original 24kwh Leaf, they can upgrade it to a 40kwh. Quite costly but depends how much you value the new ease of life...

There's also HEVRA registered garages that can repair EV's and call on the alliance for assistance.
    https://hevra.org.uk/

I've seen a few upgraded Leaf or eNV200. It's essentially drop the old pack, push in the new pack, connect all the necessary cables. The majority of the cost is sourcing the newer pack, one can get some money back by selling the old pack. Even old packs have value in them for battery refurbisher, these Leaf battery packs are easy to open and change modules.

    Sadly, they've stopped doing that.
