Sanding it down might work, but it would probably stress it too much, Smilodons' attempts prove that it's possible, you just need a bit of luck and a steady hand. EDIT: Epic thread BTW, cutting a LCD in half lol.
My Wifes father owns a factory where he manufactures stuff out of acrylic and has quite a few laser systems set up. Since the only laptop I have doesn't power on I wouldn't be able to tell if it worked right. I will let you guys know if I come across one that I can try it on.
