"Web developer" for a small company.
Make no mistake. I am thankful for the job. It formed the basis of a business I still love (though it's thankless as ****). HOWEVER, the boss was a douchebag, I jumped to the tune of literally anyone, worked for >40 hours (consecutive) at one point during elections, with a bunch of politicalluy appointed ****wits breathing down my neck, and the boss not showing up a single time in the course.

Thank's for posting this Shirty. It brought a much needed smile to my face :D

Having read through all the post's I would say I have done ok. I had one Job for nearly 2 years delivering pet supplies all over the southwest. During the summer the sacks of Pig's ears would stink out the van and the grease got everywhere. I also had a box of rotten Webbox infested with maggots fall over my feet :waah:

Oddly, I have quite fond memories of shelf stacking an a supermarket in my younger days.
Less politics, virtually no pressure, and work was left at the door, although crappy pay.

Now I do miss being able to leave work at the door. I will sometimes get clients ring my mobile in the evening and expect out of hours support. Trouble is I have allowed my work mobile to also become my personal mobile so I tend to alway's leave it on (My Boss couldnt give a monkeys).

Worked in the DSS for 10 years front line when the system did more for scrotes than it did for the genuine cases.

Got me in a few scrapes outside of work too.

I work in IT Support for a courier company and we never have people shouting down the phone at us regarding problems with their computers. Granted, most of them don't know the first thing about computers, but they're always polite when they call us...

As a cashier at a gas pump. The insane amount of ****ing insane assholes I had to endure turned a simple and calm job into something like a triple anal porn flick in a f***ing mental asylum where I was the b**** everyone wanted to penetrate.
It made me question my humanity and cement my carer choice into something with the least possible human contact possible.

Worked as a shelf stacker, while th pay was rubbish the people were great. Can't complain, was paid on time etc.

Worst job was as a web developer in a small company. While i developed my skills there and we churned out quite a few websites. The company struggled. In the end it was myself and the director in his front room. He then proceeded to try and screw me over, but the law was on my side. I was late for work because of the snow the once and he called me once ever 5 minutes asking where I was. I had to go in on my holiday to save a few clients as he was incapable of doing it himself and was never thanked.

If i saw him again, i'd probaly khtfo.

Left the company and within a week found another job, on more money, easier working atmosphere and i'm left to my own devices. Will be looking into going freelance full time at the end of the year though.

Hm - yeah see most of the people I was on the phone to had a mite of intelligence, which made the process a lot more annoying.

IT support is plain boring or annoying depending on who you work for.

One of my m8s works for sky he says its a good laugh with decent benefits and well paid. Sounds like one of the better ones to work for.

DSS or DWP know a few who work there all hate it for one reason or another.

Newspaper round. Getting up at the crack of sparrow fart on a Sunday to deliver papers for a quid. I made sure I'd deliver everything right, but apparently I got it wrong every day. I also worked in the PO/village shop and the bloke that ran it was, it turns out, a bit of a nob with a bar-code scanning system that was so convoluted it was barmy.

I also used to work at Focus for a few months. The last month I was there before getting the sack (after 1 disciplinary offence which wasn't my fault) I'd sold the most kitchen's on credit I'd ever done before. Perhaps my face didn't fit. The managers were mostly a bunch of tits, too although most of the people there were a good laugh.

I don't think this thread even needed the NSFW tag until you posted this shirty. It gave me a good chuckle.

Amazon. Worst, most menial job I've ever done. Seeing what people had ordered was interesting, but the targets were a killer. I left when I found out that Amazon seem to have redefined statistics and changed the way averages are calculated.

On the plus side, I love what I'm doing now - job is satisfying, management are supportive, pay is okay too.

    Jobs aye

First job was at 14 when my dad bought a new home for us, then being the 14 year old wanting to jump right into business “Dad can i move into the hotel” to my surprise i got a Yes!

Hotel management, Pay was dreadful as it was family. Reading not required just experiences.

Met some interesting characters, friends thought living in a hotel was amazing, Answering the door to drunks at early hours in the morning, Getting punched in the face by females that weren't even meant to be in the hotel lovely. Calling the police regularly… Policy was I had to knock on the customers door, if no response i had to walk in using the spare key and say “Please leave the hotel” In which the police then take completely over and could remove the guest. A marine off his heads on drugs/drunk was mouthing off phoned the police, Could of lost him his job but luckily we all have bad nights right? Thought a female was getting raped as she was making so much damn noise, Knocks on door hard, “Open the door” turns out this cool navy guy just got back from deployment and she was just noisy in general he came down with loads of beers and joined me for a couple of hours which was good.

Some lady tried to commit suicide by slitting her wrist… Blood my friends… EVERYWHERE!

Had a mix of horrible guest now and then, seen every trick in the book of getting discounts, money off, excuses, every damn single one, the great thing was if a guest was really, really , really horrible and hadn’t booked through the internet. I could basically tell the person to “FO”

The amount of people that joined me and my friends just by hearing us in the corridor was crazy regularly had people instead of going out on the town which they came to Plymouth for ended up staying partying with us in the hotel's kitchen lol

Thinking about it i really, really, kinda miss my underpaid job now :(

Current Job : Customer Services Manager

    Negatives
    • 12 hour shifts
    • 4-6 customers daily
    • Can’t use mobiles or read to keep yourself entertained
    • overtime is paid at normal work rate

    Positives
    • Sky Sports News, Everyday, Every damn Minute
    • All the football matches on sky sports get put on the massive HD Screen
    • Pay isn’t bad for someone starting out in life but isn’t great either
    • Both my Bosses are freaking amazing
    • Colleagues are really cool too

    Sooo boring!
