So I've only just got around to buying a 360. I currently only have two games: GTA4 and Army of Two (was only £5!)
I've played Gears of War 1 and 2 and loved them, so 2 might be my next purchase, but I was wondering what else I've missed that I should pick up and try. I haven't really gamed much at all recently so I'm open to anything.

I don't have a X360 but every time I've played on it I've always loved Geometry Wars which can be downloaded from the Marketplace.

If you like semi-realistic racers, PGR4 is epic.

Assassin's Creed is worth a play too, as is Mirror's Edge.

    CoD4
Rock Band 2 (rent RB1 and grab all the songs from it for 800 points)
    Fable II
    Mass Effect
    Saints Row and SR2
Forza 2 if you like your driving games
Viva Pinata is a lot of fun
    LEGO games
Banjo Kazooie N&B (Marmite game, love it or hate it)
Overlord is pretty good fun (kind of a cross between Pikmin and Fable)
    Rainbow Six games
    L4D
    BF Bad Company
Burnout Paradise (I believe you can get the ultimate pack with lots of DLC in there now)
Prince of Persia is pretty good
    Fallout 3
Dead Rising (must have IMO, very cheap nowadays)
    Bioshock
    Crackdown
    Orange Box
    GoW games you've already mentioned
Halo 3 (I'm completely bored of it now but it's good fun)
Halo Wars (I thought I would hate an RTS on a console but I really like this game, works well)
    Mirrors Edge

Lots of arcade games to check out too
    Penny Arcade Adventures
    Crystal Defenders
    Puzzle Quest
    Peggle
    Age of Booty
Aegis Wing (free game for US members, just make a US account and download it and you should be able to play it with your normal account)
    Geometry Wars and GW2
    Banjo Kazooie
    A Kingdom for Keflings
Dash of Destruction (It's free and an easy 200 points :p)
    UNO
    Braid
    Texas Hold'em
    Catan
    Rez HD
    Switchball
    Marble Blast Ultra
    Commanders Attack
    Streets of Rage 2
    RoboBlitz
    Castlevania SOTN

I think that's pretty much all of my games I didn't regret buying/think others would enjoy. Obviously you might have played a few of these on PC.

Take a look at those and download the demos and you should be set for a good while :p

    Adding on to Veles list:

Marvel Ultimate Alliance (if you can find it)
Guitar Hero 2/3/World Tour (my boss went to London on the weekend and found a copy in Harrods for about £118 with the drums/Guitar/Mic whereas the cheapest I've found it was for £125 in Tesco).
Ultimate Mega Drive games (40 odd Mega drive games for £25, if you like retro games)
Spiderman: Friend or Foe was enjoyable (If you like Streets of Rage style games), but don't pay more than £15 for it.

There's loads of demos on Live, so make sure to grab any you like the look of first.

I'm currently playing the demo for CoD: WaW. It is so much fun. I think this might be my next purchase.

I actually got Army of Two from PC World for really cheap. It was like £25 in Game, marked as £20 in PC World but it scanned as £4.99 and apparently the price randomly drops like that quite often! I was only in there to spend a voucher, but I may go in there more often for older stuff.

To be honest, that's incredibly vague...

you'll need to provide some genres to get any concise, useful lists :)

Was vague for a reason, I'm trying to explore a bit more :)
    See what gems I've missed.

I'm still looking for a copy of that!!! :wallbash::wallbash:

I got spiderman: web of shadows instead, and slightly regret it, cause its too linear, but the web slinging is great fun. The wolverine section I was surprised by, getting asked questions about the actual comic books, and getting most of them right.....blind luck I feel.

Wow, Veles has a great list there :) Also PuzzleQuest: Galactrix is out on XBLA now too, harder than the first PQ but still addictive. Go through the arcade list and grab loads of the free demos.

Also, I hated Braid. Could not see what all the fuss was about. Game bored me, soundtrack made me angry... don't get it :/

I've heard a lot of words used to describe it, both good and bad, but "average" has never been one of them  You need to play more Halo, Gears of War and UT if you think Braid is an "average" game.

True dat, ho. My friend is obsessed with it. The Orange Box and Gears 2 are easily my favourites, even though I don't own a 360...yet. You'll get literally hundreds of hours of gameplay out of the orange box, it's a stupidly good deal that translates very well onto 360.
