Tripwire Interactive have announced that Killing Floor 2 is in development.

I personally massively enjoyed the first KF and tripwire have a long history of releasing mod tools and free content patches over many years (for free ) after release.

 

Killing floor still has the best gun play of any game I have played to date. So I am massively looking forward to this.

 

with 400 hours of Killing floor under my belt I AM PREPARED

oh and they better bring back the HSG-1, that **** is the bomb.

 

It still amazes me how solid the gun play is in KF compared to newer shooters. I really hope they do a good job of capturing this in the new one. Everything feels like it has real weight behind it and behaves just as you would hope.

From the sounds of the PC Gamer article they're making exactly what KF2 needs to be: KF1, but with more effort put into the zombies and guns. No silly new gameplay gimmicks. No "immersive singleplay campaign". Just waves of prettier and gore-ier zombies getting mown down by more realisticly represented and enjoyable firearms.

 

I like killing floor alot! Its SUCH a grind though leveling up the skills.

it is a good grind though, and you do get some good rewards at the end, and its better than downloading a cheat map and skipping the grind, and having to rely on your level to keep you alive

I've always preferred KF to L4D, it's simpler but far more intense. Graphics suck balls though, why didn't Tripwire use Unreal Engine 3?

It's best from the perspective of "I'm going to kill zombies, and eventually I'll get a little boost" rather than "I have to get the next rank!".

Some of them could use to be a bit more exciting, though. The "do X millions of damage" ones are kind of lackluster. Zerker and Demo are my only two that aren't rank 6 because of this.

It was originally a UT 2k4 mod, and they developed the game from that with the UT2 engine.

I used to be a huge fan of Tripwire until RO2, I'll keep an eye on this but I'll be careful not to preorder this time.

 

So long as they don't get any grand ideas and instead stick with the original's simple formula it should be just as good. But yeah I pre-ordered RO2 too and although imo not a bad game, it was released in an appalling state and is still missing features that made the first game so great.

 

I'm super stoked. Killing Floor was a brand of fun that I haven't found in any other game.

They need to add a wider range of levels, perks and specializations, though. Christ did it get boring trying to hit level...what, 5? I never thought I'd say this, but they could learn something from Call of Duty.

Apparently there will be 10 different perks with 25 levels each.
