Metro: Last Light. I think that i enjoyed this one more than 2033, i believe its the first game i've done with a dedicated sound card in this machine and it seems to have made a quite a difference. It took a while to find how to set the audio to either DD 5.1 or DTS 5.1 in windows but i can play stuff now in full surround sound. Although there was no in game setting for 5.1, just stereo, I was impressed with the audio and it made it very atmospheric.
Devil May Cry (2013). Absolutely brilliant game. Beautiful to look at, awesome bosses and fun gameplay. Perfect length as well - not too short, not too long. At the risk of sounding like a creep, I also loved the sadomasochistic/sexual side to it. I've always thought that lore based on Heaven and Hell should have a strong theme of this.
Dead space 2, wasn't expecting it to be as good as the first but it was bloody brilliant! The story was pretty decent, the gameplay is just top class!
Two games. Serious Sam 2 and Deadfall Adventures. After Serious Sam the first and second encounters this was a travesty of the name Serious Sam, the first real games I played on a PC and the first co-op I took part in. I did not get the game until very recently when it was £1.79 on Steam Which is about it's worth. Very buggy but a cheap time waster. Deadfall adventures promised much but delivered little. Nice looking but so linear with very little to do most of the time. I was very disappointed in this game I was led to believe that it was similar to Tomb Raider and it did have reasonable reviews but even the final boss and I hate final bosses was a wimp. I normally play games twice in quick succession but I really do not think that apart from the odd collectable I have missed there is little replay value.
Most recently, FTL: Faster than light. Again However, I've also played through HL2 again, as well as CoD MW 1 & 2 and MoH Warfighter in the last few weeks. Sent from miPhone using Tapatalk
Just finished Outlast which is a genuinely scary game where your only tool is your cam corder, oh how I wanted a shotgun. http://www.edge-online.com/review/outlast-review/ This is on sale on Steam so go and get it turn off all the lights and prepare to wet yourself.
Me and my brother finished the main story of Magicka over the weekend. Had a lot of fun, looking at buying some of the DLC in the sale so we can play more
Mirrors Edge It was horrible. I will admit to try and not enjoying the demo back when this was released but picked it up dirt cheap in a steam sale and a lot of people speak highly of it. I cannot find the words to accurately describe all of the stuff that is wrong with this game. Put simply I play singe player games for a good story and good gameplay, this had neither. The concept sure sounds great in terms of gameplay but it's executed badly. The story was complete crap and the characterisation was horrific. I feel quite sick that they are planning a sequel. TL;DR: It's a 5-6 hour QTE.
I'll counter that; I absolutely loved Mirrors Edge at the time. The combat was clunky and unnecessary but I loved the art style and the freerunning concept really appealed to me. It was more of a puzzle game that an FPS in my opinion. It was nice to see a studio try something different and I can't wait for the sequel. I don't remember there being any QTE's but it was a long time ago.
BF4 single player. I said from the start that the single player was not for me and i wouldnt touch it, but thanks to all the bugs and server updates i actually played and completed BF4 Don't understand where my P90 is though
I haven't played Mirrors Edge since my last PC build, which wasn't up to the job. The freerunning etc was fine but there was a section where a few guards appeared at once and it turned into a slideshow. Loved it up to that point though, really must go back for another go.
Sorry, there were no QTE's but i just felt like i was constantly mashing combinations of space, shift and Q to do everything. I also didnt enjoy the problem solving. Each to their own tho!
AC4: Black Flag I haven't enjoyed an AC game this much since AC2 first came out. Ubi really came out of the ruins of 3 with real drive to make it right by the players. My only complaint about the game it that there is way too many things to find and collect that don't mean anything to the game.
Plowed through all of saints row 4 this past week and the dominatrix DLC. Loved the main game, did all the activities and unlocked all my powers and upgrades. The only parts I didn't do were some of the challenges and the two co-op activities. I typically don't get much out of sandbox games but the saints row series has shown me otherwise. I didn't quite like the Dominatrix DLC as much mainly because it was presented to the player as a "what if" scenario instead of any kinda continuation of the main story but it did have some really good laughs, especially near the end. You also get quite a few new toys/weapons from the DLC so that sorta makes up for the lack of mission content. The X-mass themed DLC dropped this morning on steam and was updating so I should be able to play that later tonight.
Finished the SR4 X-mass DLC. This one was an actual festive treat. It didn't have that "what if" scenario that the Dominatrix DLC had and it was some of the best fun I've had in the game. I wish more DLC's were like this. The locations, the character interactions, the jolly feeling you get riding around in santa's sleigh of awesome. So much fun!
Max Payne 3. I was pleasantly surprised. Had a lot of fun with it. I enjoyed the story, although sometimes I wanted to get in more game-play before my control was taken away for a cutscene. Still as far a gripes go that is pretty small.
I am making my way through this and loving it. Not to keen on the fact that you are led by the hand the whole time. Would be nice to have a couple of lone missions. And the missions are a bit short but as I said loving it.
I love that game so very much. I think it took me about two months on my first playthrough and I know I missed so many things. One of the few console games I've continued to play as time moves on, platinumed it on ps3, bought it again for the PC release and played the beta for dark souls 2 on ps3 here in NA. That game branded me for life. One of the best experiences ever.
