Perhaps you should hope for a bargain on The Orange Box instead? That way you get Half-Life 2, HL2 Ep. 1 and Ep. 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2. What you already own you can gift to someone else.

I got mine for a measily 7.50€ about a year and a half ago. One of my best purchases ever.

Nope, only the episodes here in the UK aswell, but they're standalone.

And i'm shocked, COD4 is actually on sale on Steam :O Closest it's ever got before is £20 for the Call of Duty Pack (when I got it).

 

only things i'm interested in is the GTA episodes and red faction.

i'm also lolling at how kane and lynch 2 was 5 bucks and came out 3 months ago but cod4 is only on sale for 15 bucks after being out for 3 years.

If anyone in the UK is organizing a gift pack buy for GTA4: Episodes from Liberty City I might be interested as it's the only one I'm still missing. And £5 is a better deal than 10.20€...

As for CoD4:MW, I saw the store page from within CS: CZ while playing and for a moment I actually thought they had it for 5€. Alas, the in-game browser merely rendered the page incorrectly...

 

Question - If I was to buy the Indie Pulse pack for myself, would I be able to gift the spare copies of whatever games I already own to my friends?

As far as i know giftable extra copies still aren't standard. You can only do that with either Valve bundles or ones that have been specifically set up like that, unless they changed it.
